Question Borla Hush + Wagon Owners look here!

I know some have said the Borla Hush exhaust drones on a wagon. Could anyone out there who has owned/ridden/driven in a WRX wagon with a Borla Hush catback post here. Just let me know if you experienced droning or not. I will probably eventually go catless so if that's your setup I'd welcome your comments too. I'm of course looking for a quiet setup and really like the stock look of the Hush. But if it the conclusion is that it drones I may have to go with the evo 2 or something. Thanks in advance guys.

Hmmm, no one out there has a Borla Hush and a wagon huh? If I had a sedan I wouldn't ask, I've heard video clips in the sedan and it sounds great...

Alright - I don't have the Borla Hush, but I have the Bosal single-tip, which is also considered to be quiet. Sedan people say it does not drone, but it def. does a little bit (the radio can easily overpower it) in the wagon. I'd expect the same from the Hush. Anybody?

Ive had it on my wagon for a month- stock dp.

The sound is perfect, no drone, hear it when you want to. The car should have been built this way.

I've got a Borla Hush catback with a HKS up and down pipe and yes you do get some droning. When I'm cruisin in 5th gear with the rpm's at 3000 you get the exhaust humming a bit which I believe is what you mean by a drone and it is a lil annoying I guess (I'm just use to it)......But wouldn't you get this with any exhaust, the higher the rpm's are the louder the exhaust is gonna be correct?

why would it make any difference from the wagon to the sedan?

Due to the fact the wagon has an "exposed" rear end in the cabin- whereas the sedan has an actual trunk area and deck lid to help absorb exhaust noise/sounds.

got the hush yesterday and installed it under 30min. but now its probably gonna take me a few hours to figure out how to shift the whole exhaust over to the right while retaining stock hangers. or "will" the K/B long hangers really fix my issue?

I rode in this car and didn't think it droned bad, but we only took it out for a quick spin.

whaaaa.....???? You're having fitment issues with the Hush? First time I've heard of that.
Might want to bend the hangers on the Hush. I have heard of people using the KB long hangers with the Bosal dual tip, but not the Hush. I wouldn't use those unless it was too close to the bumper... but that's just me.

i know it's not a Borla Hush, but the Bosal twin tip droned (resonate) pretty bad. i got rid of it and replaced it with an Evo2 that doesn't drone at all with the same DP setup as i had with the Bosal.

Is the Evo2 louder or quieter than the Hush?

K/B long hangers will work, I used them on my wagon when I installed 3" stromung exhaust. I originally had shorter hangers and piping was hitting. Long one work better. Tho makes muffler hang a little lower.

My exhaust shop just bent the Borla hangers for me and lined up the exhaust with no problems.

I've got a catless Hush, and it does drone slightly on the highway. I muted it somewhat by lineing the cargo area with Dynamat. I don't know if there is any catless exhaust that doesn't drone in a wagon.

I have a WRX Wagon with Borla Hush, Bosal Downpipe and stock mid-pipe. There is no drone in my car. Of course drone is not the same to everyone. You can hear the exhaust in the car, but it does not resonate, and is not annoying in any way to me. I know what annoying is, I have a friend with flowmasters on his Maxima that drones like hell.

I like the extra sound you get from the Borla without having an obnoxously loud exhaust. This is the second Borla system I've owned and I'm very happy with them.

I am installing the Kartboy long poly hangers on my Wagon with Borla's "Hush" in less than a week to fix my droning/resonating issue. I don't have it drone often, but it was often enuff for me to pay the $30.00 for these new hangers. I'll let you guys know how mine sounds after.

borla hush on my 04 wagon for a few months now. like others have said, it doesn't exactly live up to the name "hush" but it's still _fairly_ quiet. you can hear it on the highway but i'd say if you can deal with loud sticky tires, it's definately something you could deal with. i wouldn't worry about it. i'm not having any problems and i really don't like loud exhausts.

Yeah let me know how the new setup sounds because this is exactly what I'm looking to get eventually. From the looks of it Cobb's dp should be on the quiet side as far as aftermarket dp's go (due to the cat and the thick cast bellmouth). So out of curiosity has anyone out there had both the Hush and the Evo on their wagon? I can't say I've found many posts saying the Evo drones, maybe that would be my best bet for staying quiet... Thanks for the replies by the way.

are you cat-less?
after i get my Helix DP, we could compare them (Hush vs. Evo2) since you are in town.

I have a Borla Hush on my 2002 wagon, and it fit perfectly. I used Kartboy hangers, but it looks like the stock ones would have fit just fine.

Everything just lined up pretty well on mine, with no need for longer hangers. I think some of the hangers did need to be slid a bit to the side from where they had been for the stock muffler, but that wasn't too hard, using some WD-40 for lubricant. I think this is all you need to do.

If that doesn't solve, it, the Borla pipes have some slip-fit connections, and by rotating them, you may be able to adjust things for proper fitment. Depending on the angle of the dogleg, the muffler can be moved back and forth and up and down. (or more accurately: up and left, or down and right)

By the way, I got rid of a previous muffler due to a droning problem, (and a loudness problem) and I sure don't notice any droning with the Borla Hush. It sounds awesome at idle, at low speeds, and at high speeds. I love it.

I do feel that the WRX could have used some more sound insulation, and plan to add some in the spare tire well and the doors, but this is more for overall road noise.
