I have never used Meguiars on may car so I can speak for it. But I just used Zaino on my WRX and I have on my Eclipse and I recommend it to all. This is no hype. It does what it does. And the more you use the better your car looks.

You must have done something wrong

I've used gold class liquid for five years it give the best shine I've seen especially on my non clearcoated MR2 I used to have. Talk about a deep shine. Anyway the wax doesn't last too long but it's easy to apply and buff off which is nice.

maybe you need to claybar your finish first? the meguires stuff does make the car shine very nice.

now I just use it on my daughter's car. It really isn't that good. To each his own.

If you find something better, let us know. I'm always willing to try something new. I have tried a few others recently and Meguire's seems to look the best on my car.

Zaino, worked the best on my Rally Blue RS. I tried Goldglass (along with countless others), it works alright, but I wasn't really impressed.

Blackfire is also pretty good. Easier to put on than Zaino, but doesn't reflect as good as Zaino (which I think is a good thing, since Zaino sometimes makes your car look TOO shiny, and sterile...color doesn't shine threw)

Anyone else tried Blackfire? I used a clay bar first, followed by the Blackfire polish, then sealant. Looked awesome.

Only got to try it out on my RS once..as its sold now. (So I don't know how long it lasts) I will definatly use this on my STi once I get it.

I think zaino is the ticket. I couldn't get it locally of course, and went with the gold class liquid based on what I had read in here after a quick search. Bad idea
if I had my digicam I'd take pics. it's not terrible, but IMO it's no better than say, turtle wax.

Yes, Zaino is the stuff. I've tried many different waxes and for the shine, protection, and feel of the surface after waxing, I've determined that Zaino did the best job. Meguires isn't bad, but once you use Zaino, you won't be making comparisons between the two anymore.

Have used Meguiars for years. The paste is better but that goes for most waxes. I get a deep satin finish shine that I like. Some of the other stuff makes the car look like plastic. I see Meguiars at alot of car shows and know that the Automobile Meseum in Saratoga Springs also uses it (Check out Autotrader.com, 1999 Corvette, zip code 10597, Navy Metallic Blue) If yours doesn't shine like that you're doing something wrong.

Any time I put wax on my car I always use two coats of wax and then one coat of glaze. I use Meguiars Gold class and Meguiars mirror glaze.Looks amazing.

Perhaps at some point the product froze. If so it will give the less than desirable results you are speaking of, happened to me this early this spring. It was a bit dissapointing because I'm a hardcore Meguar's user. I got another bottle and a flawless finish resulted.

philip_g,
Didn't mean it to sound like I was dissing you, sorry. Only time I've ever had any trouble is when I do too much of the car at one time. It then all dries and by the time I buff it off there is nothing left- no wax, just powder left on the car.
We all know that those dark colors are the hardest to make look good. Guess that's why with a navy '99 Vette, wrb '00 2.5RS, wrb '02 2.5RS and a black Jeep Renegade I got a Silver '03 WRX.
Good luck and I hope you find out what the problem is - just as an aside, I had a swirl mark problem and I wrote Meguiars Tech Department and they e-mailed me back within 48 hours (problem was too much max too often).

that's actually one of my complaints, the wax even with a very, very thin coat once it hazes is much too wet. It buffs off easily but it doesn't seem to dry enough

Is there anyone besides myself that have used Meguires and Zaino? Would anyone argue given that criteria that Meguires is better?

Nick C.
Yes I know the thread started as a question about Meguires but now it seems like it compared to others.

I did two coats, on top of hte polish. I figured that should suffice.

I actually had the zymol in my hand and *almost* bought it. I couldn't remember if I had read good or bad reviews of it and went with the mgguires because I had looked it up before leaving. Oh well. the zymol was $12 and the liquid class 10 bucks
