Actually, with the right wheels, that could work.

A few months ago I noticed that my passenger door speaker tore. I adjusted my sound to favor the driver's side more. Then I swapped head unit back to my stock one. A few days ago my driver side speaker tore. Fortunately last weekend I bought replacement Infinity component speakers that should be sturdier. Unfortunately, however, I just have NO time or the proper tools to replace them. I just popped off the driver's door card during my lunch and took a look. Not something I'll have time to tackle myself until May, so I'm thinking of having my guys at Element Automotive deal with it instead.

The Infinity speakers came with replacement tweeters, too, but I don't think I'm going to mess with those. The main problem in sound is the HU, followed by the stock speakers. Upgrading everything around the HU helps a bit, but even when I just swapped to the Pioneer AVH unit, I noticed an improvement in sound quality being distributed a bit more evenly.

I wish I wouldn't have bricked the AVIC unit. I got the iPod harnesses and everything for it. Still thinking I should just eat the $230 to have Pioneer fix it then just sell it. At least it'll be pretty much brand new at that point.\

Sweet! You'll be so happy not to have a drilled front bumper. I feel bad for the WRX/STI guys, always having predrilled bumpers. The guys that replace their bumpers and have the license plate area shaved have the BEST looking WRX/STI in my opinion. It's kinda spendy, though, and generally they only get it done after an accident when the body shop doesn't mind doing that modification.

I've never found anything that was good for direct replacement. Honestly, the stock speakers are okay. It's the head unit that needs to be replaced. I usually upgrade my speakers first because I always hope it'll inspire me to switch up the HU shortly afterwards, but I kept the stock HU with aftermarket speakers combined for over a year. Apparently I can't ever get them both right at the same time. Before I got the AVH HU my passenger door speaker was ripped. Then I put in the stock HU and my driver door speaker ripped. There was mild improvement with the stock HU and aftermarket speakers.

I'm waiting for Pioneer's 200mm Toyota HU from Malaysia to come stateside and I'm also waiting for Integrity Concepts' shallow mount sub enclosure for a sub I have lined up for the trunk. Also got an amp to go with the sub. I've NEVER not even once in my life ever had a sub and an amp since I hate all this mix and match stuff. I don't understand the numbers either. I'm just not an audio guy since my hearing isn't the best, but I absolutely LOVE music and used to play music for a chunk of my life (as well as piddly little productions). Balancing a sound system, though, is just NOT my thing and it's expensive.

Glilly/Underground Graphix, but pretty much any vinyl shop can make it. Mine is too magenta for me. I'm gonna get it redone to be redder.

haha Sounds good man! I'm about to get these speakers swapped out this morning. No more butt rattle sound. Having Infinity Primus PR6500cs components installed. My STI had Infinity speakers and I liked 'em.

My biggest audio question is:

Where can I find a 200mm HU? Basically "Toyota size". I really want one from Pioneer, especially since I already have the adapter for it with the parking brake bypass installed.

you're most likely gonna need a dash kit/adapter of some sort. i haven't found/seen specs on the footprint for HU's double DIN and an adapter i think is the only solution.

Yeah I hate spacers. And no one's giving up the good on the spacers that come with the Canadian BRZ. Xan and I have been looking for a while. There are some 200mm units from Kenwood and others, but nothing that I think is all that compelling, except for the Pioneer one in Malaysia that just came out. I should message Pioneer about it to see if a U.S. one is in the works...

My goodness the sound is SO much better! Never going back to MB Quart again!

Also there was corrosion on the terminals of the speakers that were removed... lots of moisture in the doors.

Thanks! I actually enjoy it when my car does get dirty, because then I just rally it when I can. I wash it when I assume I'm going to be mostly cruising with no mudding opportunities.

lol You're not missing much! If you get a chance to see it up close, though, the new Crystal White is nicer than Satin White Pearl. It's almost back to Aspen White, but not quite committed to that flatness. The wheels and grill look better in person. Headlights are cool. Side mirrors, windshield line and door quarter windows are still blah. Nothing about the car feel elegant. Everything screams, "Functional!" except for the fact that it's a sedan...

It definitely looks better in person.
I was actually supposed to drive one today but the dealer I was talking to kept jerking me around.
First he said they have one on the lot, then once I told him which one I wanted to see he said they don't have one, then he emails me back saying they do, then I email him back saying I'll stop by in the morning to drive it, then he says they don't have one.
