Default some official EVO numbers and new STI articles.

for the Evo 0-60 5.1 seconds 1/4 13.8, and an amazing .97 g on the skidpad.

they also added that the best result was produced by dumping the clutch at 6k.

also new articles on STI in motorend and car and driver, but not much new info.

and some EVO vs. WRX discussions at car and driver....

Thanks for the info.

Not bad, but skidpad numbers aren't all that valuable. If anything, I'd rather see a slalom comparison. I'm curious to see how the STI compares - I imagine very well.

almost 69 mph, i think r&t recorded....one of the highest numbers they'd ever recorded for a stock car.

no question, i like the STI better and I feel confident that it'll pull sub 5 second 0-60 times, but the EVO's numbers are very impressive, esp. if you can actually get a fully loaded one for less than $31 K quoted in the article.

I'd be pretty shocked and mildly disappointed if the STi didn't hit 0-60 sub 5 seconds. I wish I remembered what magazine I was browsing thru at the book store last night but it had the EVO at 0-60 in 5.0 seconds.

And that 0 to 60 time means that even a standard WRX is close to par with the EVO

0.5 secs is a small enough difference to mean the driver has as much influence as anything else

Mind you I would feel happier abusing the EVO's transmission to get that time than I would a WRX's

Even though the numbers are close with a WRX with some minor mods....The extra money for the Evo does help out with a peace-of-mind bulletproof drivetrain

Who's Mark? Start by getting the name right, and then get a life.

Good point. Car and driver has also tested wrx's and have gotten numbers ranging from 5.4 to 5.8 for zero to 60.

We could call the EVO numbers "offical test results from Road & Track", which is saying much the same thing as official 'numbers' of course.
