Default Hooray for JDM Importers (aka gr8wheels, fueled performance)

HUZZAH! My version 3 swap just arrived!
I got it from Kevin @ JDM Importers and he gave me one killer deal! It was $6750 shipped! And I got MORE than what I asked for--I asked him if he had a quicker steering rack for sale and he threw one in for FREE! He also priced the car without the steering wheel and when it arrived--it was on! BONUS! Kevin will work to get you a deal! I will get all my JDM GC goodies from them!

Now for the pictures:

edit: I guess you only get to keep your pics on the rs25 uploads server for so long...

Here's the engine

The vf 23 turbo

The gratuitous palate o' goodies from the rear end

The Nardi steering wheel

The sexy STi badge

Tuned by STi

Some underbody thingie that looks really cool

The paint is chipping off the manifold, so it will need a new powder coating

I think I'm doing rhd because it's easier than switching over all the wiring. I think it has about 40k miles. ver 5/6 would have been over my budget, or so I was told. I got the aluminum hood (it's in my basement right now). No rear wiring harness, or at least I haven't found it yet.

It's 3.166 1.882 1.296 .972 .738 Final 4.44. Not as peppy as the RA gears, but for now it will suit me.

OK, I noticed that the intercooler/recirc valve setup is very different from the newer models. It actually looks like the recirc valve is built into the manifold! Do I have any options for aftermarket intercoolers?

Post your trans code. 4.44 FD wasnt an option in Ver 3

Just ditch the tmic for a fmic. Running a USDM wrx or ver 5/6 intercooler will take some rigging but it can be done.

i think version 3 is by itself, perhaps with version 4. check out the scoobysport UK site and forge motorsports. they should have some pictures or somthing to help u out. im sure fabbing a FMIC isnt much differnt

You paid almost $7000.00 for a super old front clip???? Man, I feel really bad for you. I could have gotten you a full USDM STi engine, wiring, crossmember, ecu and more for that. Anything Ver 5. and older should be dirt cheap.

Is anyone going to read that this ISN'T JUST A FRONT CLIP?

Do you know how much GC aluminum control arms and 4-pot brakes alone cost?

http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/trans.html

Earlier v3 had 4.11 I think. Later had 4.44.

I don't want to do FMIC because it's heavier and I don't think it's necessary for a VF23. The ver4 had an EJ20K as well, but I think those are it.

I'll post a separate thread in conversions to see if anyone has done a wrx type IC swap.

dudes, nothing STi is dirt cheap. some deals are better than others (mine), but having a full car with hood and everything is worth paying dear for.

how dear is your own decision.

hmm. you have a 4.44. hmm. wonder how the ratios match up to my 3.9.

calculate calucate calkulate.

I have the calculations for just about every gear combo at home in an excel worksheet. My combination is almost the same as the RS w/ 4.11 FDR ratios, (slightly taller in 1-4, shorter in 5). Of course my RS is an auto, so I'll never know!
