Reset CEL for free
I was passing by a Sunoco 2 weeks ago and got some 93 instead of the usual premium gas. Then I got the CEL on. I called STS, Pepboys and Somerset Subaru Dealer in central NJ. They all charge around $90 for the reset. Does anyone know anywhere in CNJ will do reset for free? Thank you.

most autozones will scan it for free. might as well find out what's triggering it. they'll reset it too if they're not dickheads about it.

the CEL turns on to tell you something is wrong. Resetting the ECU doesn't fix whatever is wrong with the car

i don't feel anything wrong with my car, i think it was the 93 gas that triggered the CEL as i heard some people have similar situation.

Yea dude I would go to autozone they'll pull the code for free then you can tell whether or not something really is wrong. I would right now check your oil level and filter, when was the last time you did that?
PS you should be using 93 gas unless you're tuned differently, so using 93 should NOT throw a cel. Good luck, get to AZ. |

You can reset your ecu by just disconnecting your battery and pumping the brakes for a few seconds. If there is something wrong with your car, the cel will just come back, its just a matter of time.

Instead of paying ppl to check your CEL why dont you spend the money on one of those cheap scan tools and code book. It practically pays for itself in after two CEL's.

maybe you didn't put your gas cap on right?
have an accessport? that thing was amazing for cel codes. but autozone ran my codes for free. and if its just a fluke, then you can pull the battey cable and reset it yourself. |
