The TPMS sensors on the 11's work on the 15's.
Use caution with TPMS sensors, they have batteries. They may be dead in 5 years in some cases.
the 05s didn't have TPMS, don't think the 06 did either.

NEVER ask a forum what they think of xyz wheel. Some will like, some will hate....

It is YOUR car, do what you want with it, and if you feel you need the internets "approval" , good luck with that. Make a decision based on what you like...!

I've been on forums for like 8-10 years, rx8club, Pontiac G8 board and here also....I am well aware everyone has a certain taste and EVERYONE has an opinion but I don't let opinions stress me out...that's all they are.

If everyone hates it, so be it, but the reason I ask is to uncover facts from opinion. If 5 out of 10 guys responded that their Konig rims were bent within months then I would gain KEY information about my future purchase.

Sharing info and uncovering facts from a sea of opinion....isn't that what forums are about?

That's my opinion, and that's all it is. Thanks for looking out...it's OK, I know some will not like it just like I don't like 10 inch wheels bent out at insane levels to the point that the car is no longer drivable above 15mph. Lol

Konig Oversteer Opal

They come in:

18x8 45 offset

Or

18x9 35 offset

I'm not a fan of wheels sticking out of the fender or basically moving to far away from stock offsets so I'm not sure which one would be the best.

Why go to 9's over 8?
Would fuel economy be hit hard?
Will handling be messed up at a 35 offset? Do I really need 9's?

While I understand I shouldn't worry about weight, the good thing about these rims is that I can get them for $150 each and they weigh only 19.6-20 pounds. They remind me of those STI rims on the new STI.

Buying rims is frustrating because I'm no expert.
What size tire do you plan on running? Many people who go to wider rims are looking to run a wider tire. Often it's for aesthetics. In order for the car to actually make use of a 255 or 265 series tire you have to have a lot of negative camber, more than you would normally run on a daily driver. You have to look at the tire manufacturer specs to see if the size you want will work with the wheel width you have selected. 235/40-18 and 245/40 will both work with either 8 or 9.5 for most tires. The difference is how the sidewall will look, both tires will be somewhat stretched on the 9.5 and slightly over square on an 8" rim.

I wouldn't worry to much about fuel economy, but theoretically it will go down with additional weight or increased rolling resistance. I have never noticed any impact, but I have never run huge tires. Going to a 35 offset will not mess up handling. But it will dull the steering response, and put a little additional stress and wear on wheel bearings. Whether or not you need 9 or 9.5 width is your call based on desired tire size and fitment...

Thanks! I was deciding between 18x8 @ 45 vs 18x9 @ 35 & a 245 tire vs 235/255.

I'm pretty sure I will go conservative and stick to the 18x8 @ 45 with a 235 tire, as the most reasonable but the flesh loves the idea of 18x9 with a 245 tire lol. If the 18x9 had a higher offset I think I'd go with 9's since I do plan some added power in the future. Then again...AWD with an 8 inch wide tire might still be enough so traction probably wouldn't be an issue. I don't plan on adding too much power anyway...as if we even know if it's possible with the new FA, so I'm probably good with the 18x8.

^Yeah, but the particular rim I'm looking at...and even more that I was considering apparently don't come in 18X9 @ 45. I'm currently at $150 per rim at 19.6 pounds each...from all my searching, finding the right rims in terms of size/specs/weight/looks is like pulling teeth from a mama bear lol.

OUCH...yeah, that's even worse. I know a place in Miami that builds custom rims but you know that would cost an arm, leg, and allowing them to clone you or something lol.

I highly recommend you check you local regional sub forums for used sti BBS rims. They're not super light, but they're comparable to the lightest cast wheels while being much stronger because they're forged. They're the perfect size and offset. When I burn up the stock tires I may go to an 18" rim, and those will be on my short list. I just picked up some 17x8 sti BBS goldies with blizzak 70s for winter. I'm loving the fact that we have the sti bolt pattern.

do you mean specifically on the WRX/STI? I have owned two 2007 vehicles with TPMS - a Toyota Tacoma and an Acura TSX so wasn't clear on this statement

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tire-pr...system#History

In the US market, TPMS was required for all light vehicles (under 5 tons) sold after September 1, 2007.

I have a friend with an 05 Toyota RAV4 that has TPMS. Part of the lucky (?) 20% in that model year, I guess.

well aware - just thought he might be talking about the industry as a whole, which subaru is a part of (and sells in the USA, which apparently required it since 2007). just wanted to understand what he was saying 100%.

thanks - that does jive with what i was thinking in general; wasnt sure how it's possible that subaru's wouldn't get them until 09 - hence the requested clarification (and wondering how it is that subaru got to wait until 2009)

Awesome Thread, just make sure when you guys actually start posting pics, that you remember to let the car roll a few inches after lowering the jack so the suspension can settle. The tires bind on the pavement making them "poke" more and the binding also increases the fender gap by a small amount. This way, we can get some accurate pics. =)

I wish I could see a 18x9 at 35 offset and with 245/40/18 tires. Since all Inhave is time before my WRX comes in I'm still flirting with the 9 wide, but 35 offset scares me away. I don't like a lot of poke.

for 245's, what steers you away from using a 8.5 rim? 9 seems not to offer much curb protection and locks you into more expensive tires. i know you can do 45 offsets on 8's and 8.5 - maybe that would work better for you? not sure what your goal is so just shootin' in the dark here!

The Konig Oversteer don't come in 8.5, if It did it would be easy lol. Nothing with rims seems easy lol. I like the look, weight, and price of the Oversteer's so that's a hard combo to move away from.

I will probably go safe and keep it 18x8 45 235/40/18 but I'm just debating in my mind lol.

I will be test fitting a 9 inch +30 wheel with a 245/40/18 on my car sometime soon! Rota Gforce

Yeah. No kidding.

i will say that sites like this helped me find tire/wheel combos that would minimize speedo error and maintain a similar fit - http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

but yeah, there is nothing easy about this. at least now you dont have to worry about 5x100 bolt patterns.

dont know if it helps anyone, but i called the dealer and they said the TPMS sensors in the 2015s are 28103AJ00A - catalog pulls up vehicle specific code 28103SG000 which 'translates' to the AJ00A part used on several models - sounds like they're the same Schrader 28203s from the previous cars. i'll be reusing my sensors but if you can't or don't want to, you can buy 'em: http://www.buysubarupartsnow.com/oe-subaru/28103aj00a.

i'd probably do this because it's direct from schrader and cheaper: http://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/x,cata...IVE_28203.html
