Couldn't have said it better. I have had mine for the past 2 1/2 years and I have never once regret having a 207

Just got mine back yesterday, block and heads completely refreshed. Its going to be to tough to baby it from scratch though the break in process, after close to 10 dependable years of smacking redline.

I love this motor, it purrs at idle and just feels solid.

About the rear O2 sensor in an EJ207, I know Clark posted at one point that it has it's use in a 16bit application.
Mine is offset out of the pipe, part of the Prodrive midpipe. It still is functional, it's moved out of the stream with a longer bung. I was reading the voltage from it at idle and the graph is wavy, between close to 0 to .9 volts. I know that for EJ205 it's supposed to be stable .3-.4 volts. Maybe we can get an input about what it's supposed to be for the EJ207? I've read before that on '02-'03 cars it does not do much. I've read that on 32bit cars it can affect the fuel trims. I'd like to get some info about EJ207.. Edit: The testing procedure for the EUDM EJ207 is to warm it up to 158 degrees (coolant), then rev it to 2-3000 rpm for minutes, then do a reading. Apparently, it's supposed to fluctuate in reading. If it's got constant 0.2-0.3 volts, they want you to start checking the harnesses. I guess mine may be fine.. Its a 1 volt switching 02. Its normal for it the voltage to go up and back.

For everyone running the ej207, what oil is everyone running in their motor? I am running Castrol Syntech 5W-30 full synthetic with a Fram oil filter. It has only seen about 700 miles with that oil in it. Does anyone have any experience with that oil?
Thanks Tom |

Yeah I would say it would be quite hot in Jordan haha. How are Winters like in Jordan, still must be decently warm? Atleast compared to Michigan they must be.

Has anyone noticed a ticking sound coming from their EJ207 from the drivers side of the motor? Not super loud, but definitely louder than the passengers side.

valve lash is probably out. If its a V7, then its likely number 3 cyl scuffed. I would have to hear it.
What oil you running? |

Gotta say I love my ver8, granted its fully built but 20-21 psi out of my s200sx-56 makes ~450whp. It spools so.nicely and has so much down low torque. Also doesn't hurt that it can take a 2011 cbr600rr in the 1/4 mile, lil more and I will be in the 10's. Not using the avalible FFS :-)

V7s are known for scuffing the cyl as the Cyl to wall clearance is to tight using Forged pistons. Its a low to mid range noise clack clack clack at idle
A TICK or high pitched sound could be a valve out of lash or it could be timing belt tensioner has gone. This will also make a tick. Good choice in oil. Quote:

The subject of oil periodically comes up in this thread.
I have decided to try to help out. I have the owner's manual for the 2005 EJ207 equipped cars, including the spec C. The manual, like all is for all impreza range and... obviously is in Japanese. I could not find a way to post a PDF file on photobucket, so took a photo of the screen and will post that. I will provide a base translation, if others can go further into details, do that. This is only an owner's manual ... |

Here's a relevant page about temperatures and oil, similar with the one in the US manual The lower temperature index for oil is for "Other than a turbo car" Last edited by Vlad; 10-09-2011 at 04:00 PM. |

So 0W20? Is recommended for the EJ207? Seems too thin to me
