What do you mean, the springs sit like oem springs on the perches.
The rears are more cups then perches so the plates sit right in them

Sorting through the shed I found an old sin I never weighed properly:

Green Brackets of Death and hardware weight from a 2004 WRX. Whopping 2.130 kg*.

*Yes, I tared out the old sign on which the GBoD sit.

Nice bue. What is the diameter and wall thickness of the main tube? Mild Steel? DoM?

Installed Turn In Concepts Giuyngmyo Fender Cowl Braces.

Giuyngmyo: 758 grams.

OEM: 571 grams. Installing these on a wagon was a bitch. Resorted to taking off both fenders so I could get my big fat hands in there.

Gained 187 grams , but my front's stiff.

Damn Bue. Those look beefy. 1.5 lb? I'd say 1.5 kilos.

I have the TIC fender braces too, if you consider the amount of mud and crap I dug out from behind the lower rear fender liner whilst installing them I'd say they didn't add any weight

I'm preparing for a local HPDE and wanted to remove a bit more. I plan on taking out the rear seats and the passenger seat for the event.

Rear WRX Wagon 60/40 fold down seats w/o headrests 18.42 kg. Removed for HPDE only, you haters.

Also plan to leave all of the cargo area padding and cover behind. 4.08 kg. I'll put all this back in after HPDE.

The reason I had the seats out was to get at rest of the child safety seat anchors from the Right Rear. 451 grams Removed.

you should have saved all your scrap metal, and smelted it into a mini subaru version of your wagon LOL

You're not far off. I have about 85% of the metal I cut off stored in my shed, labeled, and bagged. I think I've a sickness.

On topic:

OEM WRX Momo Steering Wheel with SRS and cruise control stick: 2938 grams. The extra 22 grams came from other parts.

Bell Works Short Hub 116 for GD Subarus: 285 grams

OMP Corsica Steering Wheel, Smooth Leather, 350mm (OD/1956/N): 1007 grams.

Removed 1.646 kg. The Bell Works Hub and OMP wheel has to be one of the easiest installs I've done in recent memory. I think I was done in 30 minutes. Probably took just as long to take the photos, write this post, add, and store the old parts. Also the OMP wheel is one high quality unit. The leather is perfect and stretched just right around the whole wheel. The stitching and glue: impeccable. I'm also glad I went with the 350mm large diameter and smooth leather. Honestly I wish they made a 375mm or 400mm wheel. The 350mm feels small compared to the OEM.

Anyone with the windscreen washer fluid in the trunk? How do you route it? I suppose the intercooler spray line would work, but I dont have that....

Im quite worried about wheight distribution. These things are 60/40 stock, and 3/4 of the wheight removed in this thread appear to go from the rear... Good excuse for keeping that big rear wing though. Ill also go for the battery in the trunk, I feel those extra oz of wire is worth the slightly better distribution.
Trying to take more off the front and as high up is a good plan . A lot of people here have made those comments. Sport Compact Car did a test with a stock 350Z where they removed 600LBS and then retested it maybe someone can find the link ? They windshield washer along with the battery and your other resevoirs for fluid might be able to be relocated to the trunk i would be careful of air in powersteering and radiator resevoirs.
doing that is more like reorginizing the weight. Some might say that the battery should be inside the passenger area on the floor , but i the having it on the trunk would have a greater effect on the front to rear weight ratio which will also help handling.

Just a few notes from my past experience: These cars are really not heavy. When your car weighs about 3800 without you in it... thats heavy. I just got out of an 06 GTO and stepped back into a subaru and this car is waaaaay more light and agile. My car was a mild bolt on car that did 380/385 and that thing hauled ass even weighing over 400lbs with me in it! I see a lot of people are pulling their interior, taking off door pieces, changing the steering wheel and for what? 30lbs? It doesnt make that much of a difference and for the way the car is slowly getting destroyed, its not really worth it.

You can do a few things to these cars that are key and can save a good amount of weight off the drivetrain - carbon fiber driveshaft, light flywheel, pulley, rotors, and wheels/tires. These should be the main focus.

Subarus don't like lighter fly wheels nor pulleys

And most of the stuff caddy took of his car is nothing you even see
If you think saving a few hundred lbs does nothing ur crazy

And if you think that it does you are also crazy - or at the very least obsessed. Once your fat friend gets in your car it negates all the work you put into it. So is it really worth it?

Let's face it...you can strip all the creature comforts from your car and get your perfect balance and all that...and in the end a stock GTR will spank you with minimal effort.

i'm sure if you spent the $100,000 difference in the cost of the cars you could spank the gtr

then again you don't drive around tracks with your fat friends in the car do you?

and saying that people who think saving hundreds of pounds does a lot are crazy?

you=clueless

Exactly what was said below wasn't aware you race with a fat friend in the car

Also if I had 120 gs to throw away I'd put it in the suby and spank all a$$
And yes in Canada the gtr is 120 gs

So the GT becomes a GT-R. The world's fastest sub-$100,000 car; $75,000 to $80,000 is the likely price range
3.8L/480-hp/434-lb-ft twin turbo DOHC 24-valve V-6
Curb weight 3836 lb (mfr)
power to weight=7.999999etc.
PERFORMANCE (C/D EST):
Zero to 60 mph: 3.5 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 11.7 sec

You can also youtube time attack of Opera's cars against other tuners , to note that shop doesn't increase power just decrease weight.
You can also do your own math on how to get a subaru to match the GT-R's perfomance and power to weight ratio .
granted not everyone will do that or track there car but this thread is for pro-weight reduction if your anti-weight reduction please use facts and figures at least.

GTR is a heavy and expensive car compared to an Impreza, a guy in our club has one and has to replace a set of $1300 rotors after every track day. Sure its fast, like amazingly quick around the track, but you got to pay if you want to play.
