lol you're an idiot. I agree they don't look right at all on the car though, then again I think all chrome wheels look terrible.

I don't like chrome in general, but I like those wheels and a few other chrome/polished wheels I don't like ghetto rapper chrome, or black chrome for that matter.

Those wheels on a wrx are like wearing shiny dress shoes with a pair of distressed jeans and a tee shirt.

I even tried using Wheel Wax and my Brembos still throw dust everywhere. The cross drilled rotors don't help either. Maybe next time around I will try the StopTech pads out.

New lugs on my '11 WRX with RPF1's. Maybe I should have taken a picture of the whole car, oops. Way better than the regular chrome ones they came with.

I'd have to agree on this. I think those are awesome wheels, but to me they don't really fit with the WRX. They actually seem "too nice". Lol. I think overall the car does look good though.

I need new pads and I am between Hawk HP+, StopTech, or EBC. I need to do some more research...

BTW, I like how this thread actually has lots of pictures now! Here's a shot of mine from the rear:

^^ Looks great olazy! Makes me wish I would have stayed with my original plan of getting coilovers before wheels!

Ever thought of maybe painting the OEM wheels black?

Yeah, I know those make a lot of dust and noise. I'm kind of on the fence. I need to read more about the EBC ones. I've heard some good things.

I think this is the way to go. The stock 2011 wheels look great IMO. I like the dark grey color as-is. I think they look even better lowered and with spacers, but I know some people don't like spacers.

thanks man!

i'd have to agree with xluben, i love the stock wheel color. i don't think i could get myself to spray them over.

lately i've been thinking of getting a set of 15mm spacers for the stock wheels but i also have a set of chromium black xxr 527 (i know ) sitting in the garage, i've just been sleeping on rolling the fenders so they will fit

(test fitting, wrong tire direction )

I've had EBC Red and Green pads on previous cars. Granted they weren't WRXs but the compounds were the same. They were both very nice brake pads with good bite.

As for the coilovers/wheels, I'm thinking about keeping the OEM wheels longer and longer (at least until I can get a great deal on Works or something of similar quality). I'm thinking about taking the 25mm spacer route as well, Ben. If you buy the quality stuff and not the ebay junk, you shouldn't have problems. BTW - what's the widest tire you can fit on 8" wheels; 245s?

Yeah, I ran stock wheels, coilovers and 25mm spacers last summer. No problems and I looked great!

What is the difference between the EBC Red and Green?

IIFC red is a softer compound, so better braking. The green is a tad softer than stock but harder than red.

I thought it was the other way around? I thought the range of aggressiveness, from least to most, was red, green, then yellow. I have the greenstuff on my car and love it. Only issue is lots of dust and noisy first 1k miles but they bite surprisingly hard and are a very good pad

Im pretty sure there is a WRB sedan in here with at least 255s on the stock wheels. Check out the "Meaty Tire" picture thread

Really, you can go a LOT wider than 255 on the OE 17x8's. Its just that you reach a point where the negatives outweigh the positive. My guess is that point occurs somehwere between 275 and 295.

It also has a LOT to do with what tire you use. Only the tires with the stiffest sidewalls work well pinched on a wheel.

I am running 265/35/18 on my 18x9.5 Rota DPT wheels on my 2011 WRX. 255 on the stock wheels is easy.
