Default The AMS sponsored GT-R breaks the pump gas ¼ mile record with minimal modifications!

*** UPDATE 8/6 ***

10.48 @ 134.30 STILL ON PUMP GAS

Now the fastest MPH GTR in the world!

Update in post #102

AMS has been working hard over the past few months developing products for the new Nissan GT-R. We were fortunate enough to have one of our close friends the Lipani's (Frank and Mike) let us tear into their Japanese supercar to make it even better…and that we did! With only minimal modifications on 93 octane pump gas and stock run flat tires Mike and AMS GT-R were able to break the pump gas quarter mile record running a 10.69 @ 132!!!. What is most impressive about this time is the short list of modifications used to achieve it. To the naked eye the AMS GT-R looks stock. To those in the know it is cranking out over 600 all wheel horsepower and over 585 ft lbs of torque…all with just the following modifications:

AMS Turbo upgrade
AMS Downpipes
AMS Midpipe and prototype Catback Exhaust
Deatschwerks 800cc injectors
HKS EVC boost controller
AMS/Forged Performance tune using the Cobb Access port.
Willall transmission cooler
STOCK run flat tires

THAT'S IT!

With just those modifications we were able to run consistent 10 second passes on just pump gas in the AMS GT-R…all with only a 1.8 60 foot time on the stock run flat tires!!!!!
Look for the AMS GT-R to try and better its time by throwing on a set of lightweight 18" wheels and some drag radials in the very near future!!

Special thanks to Gleeson for some great video and editing work!

10.69 Dragstrip Video!!

That's amazing then, way to squeeze everything you could out of a stock setup!

Im betting its just a port and polish. But youre right, it would have been alot simpler to state that.

If you looks at the cost of mods for the GTR in general, you might sing a different tune..

Yeah I figured it was expensive, But I was expecting the opening post to say, Catback and tune or something. Not replaced turbo's, Exhaust, tune, boost controler, this that and the other thing yadda yadda yadda.

Buddy, we're talking a mid ten second quarter mile here.
With a car that weighs as much as a 1965 Impala.

As for the turbos, they're integrated into the exhaust manifold, so it's a bitch to truly replace them. Amazing work from a legendary shop.

$8,000 is minimal considering the brake job on these cars cost that alone! Oh and the tranny issues are gone... Nissan had a fix for it

I dont know if its fixed. They lowered the Launch control RPM to 3000 instead of 4000ish but Ive been trolling GTR forums and havent seen any real difference between Gen1 and Gen2 R35 trannys.

PPG offers an upgraded gearset 1-4, they just need to find a better Dual Clutch that can handle more TQ.

The tranny is the same from first production to second production for the 2009 model...the updated software for the tranny was key...because of all the weight in these GT-R's...the 4k LC was killing the tranny...the 1k reduction has proved to reduce this...however when launching any car you risk breaking something as many people know

Interested to see how much more you can get out of it. BTW, 8k is nothing when you consider Nissan is going to charge almost double for a Spec-V with very little gain in performance.

From what I have read you can get GTRs into the 10s on the stock turbos with just exhaust, tune, and race gas.
