Wow looks awesome. I am thinking about keeping my stock HU as well and getting an amp to help pump out some more power. How did you hook up your amp into your stock HU? Sorry I'm a noobie at this. Did you splice into your front/rear speaker wires, run them to your amp and run them back?

All I got when I searched was people hooking up amps+subwoofers to their factory HU which I know is just tapping into the speaker wire. I can't figure out how to actually amplify my stock HU or speakers? with an amp.

If you look at the pic where you can see my amps and that signal processor. I used a lc6i. All I did for right now is i ran two sets of 9 wire. one for signal in to the processor and second for the output of the amp. Its ran from them to the back of the radio. When you take your radio out pull the harness out as far as you can to give you slack. You find your four sets of speaker wire. Cut them in half about six inches away from the radio.Because your going to take the set from the processor to the half thats going to the radio. THe half that is going away from the radio aka speakers. you hook the second set of 9 wire coming from the amp. And of course you have the rca's ran from the processor to the amp. Just pm if you have any questions.

Ok, I have to say, for the most part you were right about the lc6i. I now have an lc2i running in my car off the stock headunit. Running 200 x 2 to the stock fronts (obv not using all of it) and 400x1 to a 12" sub. Doesn't sound bad at all, considering. Next up is some sound deadener and then some new drivers and a miniDSP. Thanks for the insight!

I think you did a great job. I would have liked to have seen a little more fiberglass for the base of your box. How thick was it? Here in Boston it is all about stealth, factory looking systems. The nice thing is that you have a great foundation laid any future upgrades when you get the itch. We did a 2011 Impreza with multi amps, fiberglass sub box, speaker upgrade, hushmatt, suede and left the factory head.He eventually upgraded to the Kenwood DNX-9980 and loves it.

That was some pics not all. But I ended up with about an average of 1/2 inch on all the sides. Its a very solid box. I also put some second skin inside the enclosure. So in case I did get some vibration or flex. Same here Im all about oem integration. Like I said the look on peoples faces when I show them the trunk its absolutely pricless.lol I have a whole lot of other pics for customer cars.

been following this thread very closely. Absolutely love how yours turned out. I plan to copy your build exactly for my car. Got all my parts ordered yesterday, so i plan to start the build next week.

Fyi, this will be my first time working with fiberglass. Wish me luck!

Thank you sir. I've done a couple in my day.lol if you have any questions or help just pm me. Good luck on the the build. It's very time consuming so don't get impatient and rush things. Take your time and it will pay off. Just make sure you protect your car with some plastic. You don't want any unwanted fiberglass on your car.

started my build today. Dynamating the trunk took longer than i thought it would. probably doesn't help that i wanted it perfect.

I noticed my spare tire well is much smaller than yours. I have the 5-door, but didn't think it would be that much different than yours. i'll barely have enough room for my amp in the tire well above the box. Laid two layers of glass and am letting it dry overnight. The shop i bought my stuff from suggested slow catalyst or whatever its called because it was my first time, but its taking forever to dry, and i followed the mixture exactly. 7 cc's per quart. 100 degrees out while i was working. i did a 1 quart mixture which got me through 2 layers.

Following the theme of this thread i just did an lc6i and a 5 channel amp in my 2011 sedan. Very hapy with it! I have the lc6i under the passenger seat and the amp under the driver seat. As soon as i can figure out a spot to put a small sub (sub channel is only 200w rms) then ill toss one in. I want to keep the spare as its my daily driver.

this sucks. i just finished the box before sealing the top and took a cubic foot measurement. I filled it with dog food and it measured out to be 6 gallons and 3 quarts. if i did the conversion right, thats .883 cubic feet. its so small. When people give recommended sealed box sizes, is that before or after the displacement of the sub sitting in the box? sure hope its before, lol

I'm pretty sure its after....thats why driver displacement is given.

I'm assuming you already have a sub?

So haven't found any info on the driver volume...my idq is .09 cu ft ....

If yours is similar your box is the right size for one sub not two...~ .7 cu ft each....

Your at about .33 cu ft per sub after est. Driver volume
