Local dealers aren't marking anything down and the Telluride isn't listed as being part of their financing deal. . Conversely, I can go pick up a fully loaded VW Atlas for 5K off MSRP at the local dealer, plus financing incentives.
As typical for all dealerships in California, all Telluride models were being marked up anywhere between $3k-10k depending on paritcular car trim level and douchbaggery of dealership location (the nicer ones on the coast cities being the bigger offenders).

Basically none of the dealerships in LA or Orange County I contacted were willing to go any lower than $3k over sticker (this is 'discounted' down from a $4-6k markup) but I found a dealership in Riverside that had a couple well optioned cars in inventory (an EX and SX) and were more reasonable, i negotiated a car that had a $5k markup to just around $500 above MSRP.

I basically chose the worst car to shop for if one hopes to find a bargain during the Covid pandemic, but I figure if this wasnt gojng on, the dealership may not have been willing to negotiate down to even that price, so I took what I could, and this was without paying any dealer addons like extendrd warranty, etc.

All Tellurides were advertised at 1.75% APR for as long as 48 months and that was the best financing option offered on their website. Of course even the dealership I did business with tried to jerk me around with a 2.75% over 60 month and played dumb on the advertised deal until I pulled it up on the phone.

They did offer 0% 60 months for their crappier unpopular models.

In what world do car dealerships think they can ask for over MSRP during this pandemic?

Even more, in what world do dealerships think they can as for over MSRP on a FLIPPING KIA.

I hope all those dealerships go belly up and receive $0 of "bailout" money. Time to correct this bubble.

Its supply and demand the Telluride is a hit and has been commanding MSRP or more since it was released.

I was going to get one but now circumstances have changed so I may just get a Miata.

When I can pick up a fully loaded VW Atlas for almost 7k off plus 0% financing, no way I'm touching a Kia for over MSRP without a good financing deal... Won't even bother going to the dealership.

I think I have convinced myself to trade in my R on an Atlas, and pick up an S2K. Looks like dealers are actually open now, so this might happen sooner than later to take advantage of the pandemic sales.

Im very happy with my car but i cannot in good conscience encourage anyone to pay more than MSRP on a car. Just get whatever fits your budget best.

Some Atlas vs Telluride reviews you may find helpful.

Yeah. It's a good car. But the Atlas is a better value for my situation given the current discounts. Fully loaded, it comes in cheaper than the equivalent Kia. It's a tad slower, but better in the corners. Plus I prefer VW styling, although the Kia is better than all of the other three row competition out there.

People need to learn patience. The telluride is by no means a low-volume car. It will be printed as often as it needs to to fulfill demand. People just getting ripped off because they absolutely have to have it now... amidst this pandemic... when every other car value and sale is plummeting...

I suppose I hope they enjoy getting reamed, because there's no way they can be oblivious to the fact.

Unfortunately the people who chose to wait are gonna pay in the form of even longer wait times. Kia's Georgia plant has shut down again due to supply chain issues indirectly a result of global Covid related supply issues, further delaying production of the last of the 2020 cars and builds of the upcoming 2021 models.

Blacked out most of my chrome trim and badging, combination of plastidip on badges and matte satin wrap on chrome grill and window trims. Happy with the results.

That's great deal but doesn't help if buyer is not interested in an MDX. But great for those who want an MDX.

That does look really good. It's kinda sad that nowadays it's considered bold to put on 17" wheels, especially on an SUV. You put on the right tires, especially since they're fat enough to protect the wheels.

"back in my day" you wanted the wheel diameter to be no more than half the tire diameter (30" tires on 15" wheels, 32's on 16's, 34's on 17's) basically the smallest rim with the tallest tire you could get.

Off-road Donks don't make sense to me. These look good on the Telluride, appears to follow that philosophy of "smallest wheel that would clear the calipers". How are the road manners of those tires?

Yeah I stuck with stock tire width and close to stock overall tire diameter to keep overall driving feel similar.

The Falkens behave really well on the road, are very quiet for an A/T (esp compared to stuff like BFG K03s) and track fairly straight. The car does have a tendency to wander off from side to side more compared to a pure road tire if I'm not paying attention at the wheel and yeah it does corner as flat in sharp turns but it's still acceptable for a large SUV with a huge box on top.

Overall has little impact on my daily commuter drive.

I've been thinking of getting the Falken wildpeaks for my Santa Fe. It seems like a good alternative to the Geolander A/Ts without going to too aggressive off roaders.
