Default 2008 STI Grill, fit on WRX or 2.5i?

Hey everone, I'm looking at the grills on subarugenuineparts and I was wondering if anyone has fit the 08 STI grill on an 08 2.5i or WRX. I like the look a bit better than the sport grill, but there's two version of the sport grill, one for 2.5i and WRX, the other for STI. The site does not say it doesn't fit, just says they have not done a test fit. Anybody?

Can anyone post a few pics of their STI grill off the car so I can see any clips or screws that are different? Thanks

try it out? the bumpers are different but that doesn't mean they're different where they sit with the grill.

It should fit. The SPT Sport grill fits in all 3 models

I actually just picked up my WRX on Wed and my buddy and I traded grills last night. I personally like the silver wings on the top of the grill, it connects the lights together so it doesn't look like something is missing.

Before

After

He didn't like the STI grill and I did, so he took my sport grill and is going to paint it matte like the lower grill

The STI grill went on my car with no problem. On the STI they had to shave down the little lip on 2 black plastic tabs to get it to sit right. You really didn't have to since the screws hold on the grill anyways, but we did it just so it was perfect.

Oh and you must remove the bumper to change the grill. The STI has all Pop-Its, while the WRX has one 8mm screw in each fender, and a bunch of Pop-It's as well.

You know what else fits, a lot of the go fast goodies from my old LGT. My car will be 10 days old and will be going stage 2 ProTuned next week

I think so too!

Anyone paint their hatch trim matte black?
I am thinking about getting the STI painted one to OBP to match my car, but I am also thinking that painting the hatch trim piece the same as the STI grill, matte black, would look good and give it some contrast on the rear since I de-badged my hatch. But may be too much matte on one piece..Anyone?

If it doesn't fit then how come my WRX grill went on his STI with no problems? You don't have to file down the little tab, he just did it b.c he wanted to, the screws hold it tight anyways.

subaru has 2 different parts (sport grill) w/2 different part numbers

SPT sport grill has
2 different part numbers
2 different stylings

I was basically saying that ONE SPORT GRILL IS NOT STATED TO FIT ALL 3 MODELS

completely different part numbers
wrx / 25i / obs share one part number
sti part number is completely different

are they compatible?
I dunno. isn't that the point of this thread?

Sounds like STi grille will go on a non sti w/no issues.
but sounds like the vice versa does not hold true.

good. so the original question has been answered for the most part...

there are a few people on 3gwrx.com who have the STi grille (with the STi removed mostly) on their non-STi WRX's. It will fit, just take that dang STi off. I like it better than the sport grille personally, but the sport grille came with my car so I'll probably just leave it.

Not going to keep the STI emblem on a 2.5i LOL

I like the STI grill because of the matte finish, would love to see a matte black sport grill and STI hatch trim but I guess that will have to wait if I get the STI grill.

That STi grill is nice! Gives the car a bit of the distinctive '06-'07 look.
