Question 2002 OEM Key Fob destroyed, security system not allowing engine start, aftermarket k.

My 2002 OEM Key fob for my WRX has been destroyed and my security system isn't allowing me to start my car. On top of this I do have a after market key fob but it hasn't been programmed yet can someone help me get back to Baltimore from North Carolina?

I believe programming a new fob requires your key and instructions in the owners manual, may also be a supplement with the manual.

I'm pretty sure it s posted on here as well.

Unless I can deactivate the security system I can't program the after market key fob. All threads I've seen on here have not worked for canceling out the code that is preventing me from programming my aftermarket fob so far. Thanks though still looking for help

The 2002 WRX does not have a chipped key - only the key fob.

If you don't have a keyfob, disarming the alarm is described in the owners manual

Quote:
Emergency disarming
If you cannot disarm the system using the transmitter (i.e. the transmitter is lost, broken or the transmitter battery is too weak), you can disarm the system without using the transmitter.
To disarm the system:
1. Unlock the door with the key and then open the door.
2. The alarm will sound.
3. Insert the key into the ignition switch and cycle itfrom the “LOCK” to the “ON” position three (3) times within 5 seconds.
then you can program your new transmitter

Unfortunately, whatever is in the manual should be correct and is the best info we can offer.
