Any helpful tips for keeping my car from corroding during winter driving?
I live in Germany and the Germans salt the crap out of the roads. Were also not allowed by law to wash our cars in our own driveways so everytime I need to wash it I have to go find a pressure washer locale.

your car won't corrode unless you leave the salt on it for years....these cars should be rust/corrosive free for 10 years plus.

I would say your best bet will be to go to the pressure washer locations once a month if you can.

some locales are really much worse than that stubborn thought. Car builders who don't know just keep shipping 1mm pastel plain blue paint jobs attracting yuppies and expensive wax.

A paint job is in order sometimes..from day one. A true detailer who wants a good lookin machine knows it. This can wait until car is even rusting to bring it back and beyond oem with more work than paying too much for already..but hey. you really want a good looking machine...?

where is the caranuba on your site? after the greatest paint job, the greatest wax is in order. whats up with microfibers. A good wax can polish with nature and a brillo pad.

no problem at all.

On to you wheels. If they have a clear coat on them wash them, clay them, hand polish them (safe for clear coat polish/anything you can use on your car's paint) then wax/seal them. You should be able to get some of the yellowing out of the wheels.

My wheels are stock BBS. Ive been using some stuff called p21 I believe. I got it from an online porsche place. It has its limits though. After a cleaning session on friday the wheels had a yellow haze on them after I was done. I dont really have a good selection of cleaners to choose from so im SOL.

i purchase a car from the previous owner, and the hood has a small part where it looks like bird crap got on it, and the owner left it on for a while, which ate at the paint. how would i go about fixing this? seems like its just the clearcoat that is affected.

also, i have some surface scratches on my car, what are some ways to get rid of them?

I live on a busy college schedule, so I don't really have 2-3 hours to detail my car like some people.. but I figure fixing some surface scratches shouldn't take that long?

ALSO, I noticed my paint has tiny toothpick size chips on them around the car, (mostly the front hood, the top of my car, and the top of my rear trunk and spoiler), I'm guessing its from those small sand particles flying around in the freeway... I highly doubt there is a way to fix this, but if there is, that would be nice.

if possible I'd rather go by hand, but I also wouldn't mind spending a few $$ to get something if it would make my life a lot easier.

Does it matter how long i leave wax on for? ie should i remove it and buff it off when it dries or does leaving it on longer have anything beneificial (30min-2hr long) ?

this is inside a dark garage btw. Ive always removed the wx once it dries up, then buff it all off/out with some elbow grease, but buddy who would show his car would leave it on overnight....

how do I remove tar from my wheels? I use a wheel cleaner that also removes tar, but it isn't helping.

BIG ORANGE, we use it all the time in construction, for tires boots tools, let it soak in and then rub it off. it is just an orange cleaner and it is safe.

P21S is a great product. As for the hazing/yellowing on the wheels you probably have to polish them unless its a defect on the clear.

If your car is 2007 this shouldn't have happened especially if you are using P21S.

With the roads I have to drive on, everyday is a track day. I probably dont clean them enough. My calipers always come clean though. Maybe I should repaint them and use whatever paint Brembo uses. I might order some stuff off of your site. What do you recommend for the wheels?

I've got super heavy water stains on my old 94 Sentra. I was the first one in my family to wash it in 06 and we bought it new. I've tried vinegar, rubbing alcohol, and even Spot-X and its not coming off. Any suggestions?

What is the best duration wax/sealant you can recommend? I use Mothers Carnuba in the summer because it looks awesome, but I'm searching for something with more protection than looks for the winter months.

What is the best buffer you can recommend on a budget? I plan on claying and polishing my car come spring, but God knows I don't want to do the polishing by hand, if that's even possible. Making the waxing process faster is always a bonus too.

Handsome_Rob - even though its pricey I would recommend P21S Wheel Cleaner:
http://detailersdomain.com/index.asp...PROD&ProdID=30
Brushes:
http://detailersdomain.com/index.asp...PROD&ProdID=43
http://detailersdomain.com/index.asp...ROD&ProdID=136

thejaredhuang- you may have to try compounding and polishing with a machine. it's probably etched in there pretty good.

vecdran - there are a few good sealants that we sell:
Einszett Glanz - will have a warmer look and could last a bit longer
http://detailersdomain.com/index.asp...PROD&ProdID=34
Menzerna FMJ- very nice reflection, last about 3-5 months
http://detailersdomain.com/index.asp...PROD&ProdID=15
Porter Cable - and the items recommended you can
http://detailersdomain.com/index.asp...WPROD&ProdID=3

With gel you can let it sit longer also you would use less product.

mugenXP

sorry didn't see the updated post.

Okay by hand you probably won't get too much out at all, also the first detail you will probably spend a bit of time but as long as you up keep the car with washes and wax you will be on your way to maintaining your car in tip top shape.

So provided you want to pick up a PC with the proper pads.

You can go with Menzerna Power Gloss Compound...followed by Menzerna Intensive Polish and finishing with Micro Polish.. then a coat of wax or sealant.

Let me know if I have answered your ?

If I do regular washes/waxes, would these swirls/light surface scratches go away slowly? Plus, how often should I wax my car? I'm thinking every 3 months, or before every season change.

Also, when I stepped out my door at night with a flash light, I saw that there were some left-over wax marks on some parts of my car, any way to get rid of this? I can't see it in the day time, but at night time with a flash light up close, I could see blurry white films.

You would have to remove all the scratches and swirls out first then maintain the car properly, the wax well it all depends what you are using and what the conditions the car is in...

Is it garaged, is it out all day, did it rain all month, really depends more rain and the elements, wax more frequently.
