How hardcore can you make an Outback? Really? I get that they are trying to copy Jeep's Trackhawk thing but I just don't think the typical Subaru buyer is the same as Jeep's demographic as Subaru buyers take their cars off road no more than any typical SUV buyer.

Skid plate, more ground clearance, and meatier tires are a good complement to the X-Mode.

So they are going to throw all the parts from the OEM "off-road" catalog at it (skid plates, etc.), add in a 1" lift kit, plus some "appearance" mods and charge a few grand for it. Are they going to bring back Crocodile Dundee while they are at it, holding his big knife this time so he's more rugged and extreme?
This is a pure cash grab and far easier for Subaru than actually engineering something (like a compelling STI replacement, but I digress). I guess I can't blame Subaru if people will pay a premium for this stuff. This saved the brand in America 25 years ago, I wonder if there's enough magic for a second act. |

I'm pretty sure 99% of people purchasing this will never take their Subaru off roading anywhere that requires a skid plate or more ground clearance. This is simply an attempt at making a few more bucks off the cost of an extra badge and there's nothing wrong with that I suppose.

I had to take a break from the Impreza FB group because I got tired of people who are too cheap and/or lazy to get stuff done the right way on whatever they're trying to mod. A Wilderness Edition Subaru is exactly for those people. Especially when they're always worried about voiding their warranty. "If I replace my OEM lug nuts, will my warranty be voided?" |

Didn't Subaru already do this in the late 90's with the Legacy sedan.

Wilderness is defined in the sedan segment.

Didn't Subaru lift their cars, add roll cage, turbo, and go win races in the back woods of Europe? Any chance that is what they mean? Sarcasm meant.

I'm interested in a 3" *drop* kit for Outback XT; complete with steering geometry correction.
I can pay :-). |

I'd be even slightly interested in the Legacy XT if there was an aftermarket front bumper. I can't stand all that black plastic. Even on the Outback it's a bit much, but I don't mind it as much because it's an Outback.
Find me that aftermarket Legacy bumper and I'll find you a lowered OBXT without cladding and an aftermarket Legacy front bumper. |

I see a lot more Subarus in the wild doing normal outdoor activities but it could be I'm located in Colorado. Outside of Wranglers and old Cherokees, the rest act like mall crawlers and doing things that the Subarus are doing.
