Default CRS Rally School and Ridgecrest RallyX Feb. 20 & 21, 2010

CRS Rally School and Ridgecrest RallyX Feb. 20 & 21, 2010

The 13th Annual CRS Rally School will take place on Saturday, Feb. 20 in Ridgecrest CA with the Ridgecrest RallyX being held the following day.

The Rally and RallyX School is also open to RallyMoto™ Riders
Don’t miss this all day event that covers all the elements of Rally, RallyMoto™, and RallyX (rally cross) competition. A heavy emphasis will be placed on in the seat time for drivers/riders and co-drivers on practice courses designed to give them the "feel" of real competition. Experienced rally drivers will ride along with you to show you how to use the practice area. Two or more students may share one car. A helmet with a Snell 90 or newer sticker is required for the driver's practice. A few loaner helmets are available. No helmets are required for the co-driver practice sessions.

This is a great opportunity to show a new co-driver, service crew member, or spouse what rally is all about. There is no one involved in the sport that will not benefit from this workshop. 2010 marks the the thirteenth presentation of the school.

Your entry includes a "working sack lunch" Saturday afternoon (the learning continues over the munching) and Mexican buffet Saturday night. You do not need to bring any vehicle to take part in the classroom part of the course. Drivers and riders must provide their own vehicles. You may use any reasonable hard-top street automobile, with a minimum of stock over the shoulder seat belts, for the drivers practice sessions as they are on the same level smooth dirt parking lot as the Sunday RallyX. RallyMoto™ riders must wear State approved helmets and both bike and rider must be licensed to ride on the street.

The RallyX
A Rally Cross or RallyX is similar to an autocross or solo except that it is held on a dirt lot. This event combines the skills of rally driving with the strategy and techniques of solo. The exciting aspect of these events is that stock street vehicles will be allowed to compete. Classes have been established for prepared and street stock vehicles. The only safety equipment required is stock or better seatbelts and a helmet with a Snell 90 or newer sticker is required. A few loaner helmets are available. The Rally Cross will be a part of the 2010 California Rally Series Rally Cross Championship. The event will be held at the Desert Empire Fair Grounds in Ridgecrest. All CRS RallyX classes will be offered. See the entry form for complete details. Club memberships or rally licenses are not required. Open top, or convertible vehicles may not be used in the RallyX. Off-road racing approved vehicles with a racing association tech sticker or log book are allowed with side safety nets.

If you want to get involved with rally racing in ANY form, I highly recommend this school. I personally went to this school back in 2007 and had a blast. I have since gone on to win two championships (2008 Street Stock 4 and 2009 Street Mod 4) and it all started at this school.

I would also like to add that I will be instructing this year. So come on out and have some good dirty fun!!

how would a class like this compare to say o neill? aside from the price difference and having to use your own car?

I went to this rally school 9 years ago. I can say I learned a lot by going to this. Tons of fun!

Not really much of a comparison, CRS is a great informational school to get started in rallying. I would say Tim Oneill is more of an advanced type of school, although they do offer entry level and on. Tim has acres and acres of roads, CRS uses the streets for co-drivers and a closed course for drivers.
CRS is a great local school to get started. But I have never been to Tim's.

Trying to talk the wife into this. Spots still open? If we brought the fifth wheel, is there a place to park it Saturday night?

Theres dirt all around the area.....desert everywhere....an rv park right next to the track......its pretty much up to you.
Or go to the walmart parking lot

If you cant find a place you can park in front of my house or in my sideyard.....i live right around the corner.

There's always spots.......if you show up.....you run. I showed up hungover 2 hours late last year, missed the first lap and they still let me sign up and run.

Its not a big event or anything. They make the track on a 2 acre plot of dirt. There's usually ~30 cars that run.....not many spectators.

Yes, spots are still open. Just go to http://crsrallyschool.com and register. See ya there!

And yes, there is plenty of room for your 5th wheel.

For the RallyX, are walk-ups alright? I won't be getting paid 'till the Saturday right before the races.
