When you are putting your IC pipes on and before you clamp them down, coat the pipe and the inside of the rubber withn aresol hairspray. This is the trick I used when I was putting together both of my turbo kits on my Mazda. The hairspray lubes it up but when it dries creates an excellant seal. When I took my turbo kit apart I had to damn near put the **** in a vice to get it off, and never once had IC piping pop off.
Done..

BTW I'm running this FMIC on a OTS txs map and a vf39 with no problems at all.

It will affect your boost, which can throw off fueling a bit since the UTEC uses boost reference on top of the MAF. It took me about 1 - 1.5psi less to hit the same MAF voltage (keep in mind the MAP sensor is in the intake manifold). It shouldn't throw things that far off, but it will slightly. Nothing like changing your intake which.

Is there anyway to fit a grill to protect the ic from debri? Has anyone done this?

I made one from gutter guard (Home Depot sells it). It has been rather flimsy, so I bought a grillcraft grill off someone used. They are a lot sturdier.

Ok, got some things in today...really impressed that I won the auction and BOOM this is at my door already (like 4 days or so). My wife took some pictures (does it look like I have everything?):

In addition, the filter and TurboXS adapter came in.

Have you also ordered a 2.5"-2.75" adapter for the throttle body? That's the only thing I don't see there.

Here's a link to the BOV/BPV adapter. Cheaper than the TXS brand adapter and it looks beefier. WBR is a vendor on NASIOC and IWSTI.

UPDATE!

I made the six hour drive to Austin, TX from Oklahoma City, OK and got tuned on my new combo, and the burmese soda can FMIC performed very well. The tuner commented that it was his first one to tune and everything went just fine. Here is my setup:

2005 STi stock longblock
td06-20G
740cc
eBay FMIC
catless invidia 3" turboback
walbro gss342
prodrive BCS
APS BOV
Perrin turbo inlet
Ecutek

I was tuned for ____91 octane_____ and laid down 270 on a heartbreaker dyno. translates to 350 on a dynojet across town he said. I am happy! It responds like a stock turbo but MUCH angrier when you poke it with a stick.

In case anyone wants a matching 90 deg. hose for the BOV/BPV setup. I got this one a few weeks ago, works just like the radiator hose did, but looks better in the engine bay.

i think my rad hose isnt sealing well... wondering if silicone might seal better and/or hold boost better than a crap radiator hose... or maybe the rad hose i got is just slightly too large.

Same reason why I replaced it. Rad hose works well in a pinch... but I noticed mine was dry and brittle once removed.

I'm not saying this is ideal for everyone but if you want to run a larger turbo with a 3" inlet, then its a cheap way to do it.

Anyway, I took some exact measurements with a micrometer.

Spectre MAF tube
2.82"
71.62mm
(little larger than I thought)

SSA Maf
2.55"
64.77mm

Here's a pic of the 3" Spectre MAF tube and two 3" tubes on each side.
i like your intake setup, what is that red tube at the end of intake is that your filter are you using a low profile filter to fit in the fender?

Yeah, its my homemade CAI. Its a Spectre flex hose I got at Pep Boys for like $15. Its only 2.75 ID and the 90 degree Spectre fitting I have in the filter sucks since it narrows at the bend. Since then, I reinstalled the air filter back on the straight Spectre maf tube (no CAI) and the car feels much quicker. I run a 3" Red turbo so on a stock sized turbo, I doubt it would make any difference.

I put it back in the engine bay for now until I can find a better CAI solution. Hyperflow is another CAI but shipping is a killer since its coming from AU.
Filter is just cheap Spectre filter that I also got a Pep Boys ($25).

spectre for the win. Using a 3" cone filter in the engine bay no problems.
