Default E85 and 91

Ok have a switch under my steering wheel and the guy I got my car from said its for the radio so I can watch movies but it does not work. (he didn't know much about any imports) but anyways I am thinking it might be a switch to run on two diff kinds of gas. And my question is how can I find out? I really want to run my car on E85 and 91 if so

What would make you think that you have a map switch?

Trace the wires and see where they go

To be more specific, did the guy mention a aftermarket ecu? Any type of tune/ files, tactrix cable or AP he supplied you with to make you think its a map selector switch?

Some piggybacks/ecu have a switch to allow you to run differant tunes. Other methods require you to load a new map.

The best way to find out if you have that mod is to contact the seller or locate the ecu and verify if it is stock or if anything is attached to it. If you think it might be tuned try pulling up the Rom using a tactrix cable and see if you can compair it with stock.

My best guess right now is that its an eject button.. jk

Good luck

I would just get an accessport v2 and get it tuned on both 91 and e85 and have maps for both fuel

Given where it is, and if you have a double DIN deck with some sort of touchscreen, which is what i'd assume with the 'watching movies' bit:

-These systems typically have a wire tied into the parking brake sensor that will limit the functionality of movies/distracting things on the HU unless the parking brake is set. This prevents people from running movies on their HU while cruising down the freeway and.. yeah. Anyways, what people do is either permanently ground this wire out, or likely in your case, put a switch in to enable/disable this function.

What he likely didn't realize is that this functionality is not stupid enough to be fooled by just having a wire grounded, and has other means of input to determine that the vehicle is moving. Typically, you have to ground the brake sensor *and* load modded firmware that bypasses this function.

So it's likely a failed attempt at this. What kind of HU is in there?

Doing what you're thinking (in my close-minded opinion) either involves something like:

-an EVOMSit firmware update (as far as i know not for roos), which wouldn't use a switch.
-developing your own revision of the ECU's firmware on the uncertain likelihood the engineers left a GPIO slot open to use said slot as an analog input that triggers switching one, or many maps (Not fun.)
-Using some insane (large number) pole, single throw switch and a messy IC to switch between two entirely separate ECU's

Nuke209 likely has the best answer for you, next in line being grabbing a cable and going the Open source route.

A friend of mine rented a u-haul once, and went through half a fill-up before realizing it was a diesel and that's why the regular gas nozzle just wouldn't fit or keep filling as he was trying to pump it. He called the company, and they told him since it was just a few gallons, to just drive it back in, sputtering and spewing back smoke all the way.
