FP Green and hybrid is a fantastic mix. You'll definitely like that.

I'm sure as hell hoping so. I'm not going all out and getting the best of the best. But nothing will be overlooked on this build, I only want to do it once

Lol. That's awesome! My brother is moving up in March and he's a mechanic so we were going to do a full STI swap on the wagon, meaning engine, tranny, rear end, brakes, axles, wiring and ecu. Then I'm going to go ahead and throw some coilovers on it, some whiteline antisways bars, a FMIC hopefully AMR, and maybe some equal length headers and a full exhaust while I'm at it. Plus a tune, still debating on who to get that from though. Plus when we take everythign out I'm planning on getting it painted that Spruce mica green I posted up a few post ago.

Might as well let it all out the bag lol. Trying to think of what else I should do to the engine for cheap while we have it out before putting it in the wagon though. It's going to be a fun project and if any of you guys wanted to help I'm sure we could use it. two guys doing a project like this would take a while! Any ideas on other good upgrades that would be great bang for the buck??

Not trying to get too crazy with the engine yet. Upgrading from a A/T 2.5 NA to an STI with the 6 speed will be a big enough change lol, let alone the changes we're going to make. It'll be a completely different car when we come out to the first meet lol. Definitely something to show off and be proud of!

A quick recommendation: if you're keeping the stock turbo, don't use a front mount. It is unnecessary and you will gain nothing from it. If you do go with a front mount, I'd recommend APS over AMR--an APS 525 will be plenty for any stock location turbo, and will be a lot cheaper than an AMR piece while maintaining great quality.

Save yourself some money and skip the AMR front mount. Use an STi top mount, JDM if you want a little extra size, and start swapping out the suspension bushings for some nice polyurethane bushings. Putting the car on coilovers with stock rubber bushings should be a sin.

Yeah I was thinking about that but I wanna keep it looking stealth. Keep the stock impreza hood yah kno. Plus I wanna keep the fog lights. the Amrs fmic lets that happen. If I can keep my fogs with the aps fmic ill go that route tho. Plus I will want to upgrade turbos after a while. Probably within the year lol.

The APS DR525 should allow you to keep your fogs, wont be so unnecessarily huge, and will handle a whole lot more turbo.

While the stock TS hood is stealth, it is also steel (read: HEAVY). The WRX hood is aluminum, and the scoop can easily be replaced with a vent or plate. Just more food for thought.

Ahhhhh. Now I didnt know that about the hood. Thats definitely good to know. Ill look into a plat to fill where the scoop is on a wrx hood. That way ill be lighter. Be rdy for a bigger turbo. And keep a stealth look! Unless I could find an oem style cf hood for cheap lol. Then I could save a little more weight lol

CF is fine as long as you're alright with less than perfect fitment and you paint it. Not only is unpainted CF not stealth, but it also looks terrible 99% of the time.

Yeah I agree. I would def paint it tho. Getting the car painted anyway so would do the hood too. But they don't make a cf hood with good fitment??

They do exist, but they're hard to find and probably out of your price range.

KSTech makes a nice hood vent that's worth a look. If its a blockoff plate you're looking for, it wouldn't be hard to be order a small sheet of Lexan, cut it to size, and paint it.

If they're taking reservations so far ahead, then Yeah, May as well lol. I'm going. Probably still going to be rocking the 2.slow though.

Yeah its understandable. I was going to buy something new then I figured itd be cheaper to do a swap with me and my brother doing the work than it would be to spend 20k on something new and boring lol. Plus its tax season. AND my wife just got her first real job at BWMC now that shes done with school so we'll gave two incomes for once! Hopefully by march to april we'll have the money saved up to get this project done right!

Yeah lol. Luckily they steal so much from military paychecks that I usually get a small bit back. Plus the wife and I were full time students so we get a decent tax break. Otherwise we'd be broke as an old honda

You could just buy mine. I don't want to get out of the scene, but it would be best for awhile. I can build my motor on the side and get another when I'm ready.
