Default My water bottle smells funny... keep using it?

Kinda smells like a pond or something.. I rinced it out with hot and cold water.. still kinda smells. Should I keep using it or get a new one?

i suggest filling it with bleach, letting it sit for a few minutes, then drinking the bleach.

There is this stuff called "liquid soap" its kind of new, and if you let the water run through it for a little bit, it will all dissaprear, along with your swampy smell.

My water bottle is just a large bottle of water you would buy at the store.. if I was to shoot soap in there it would just foam up forever..

I used the same plastic cup at work for about 1 month, and I gotthis persistent cough about 2 weeks in....

I finally looked closely at the bottom of the cup, and there was a bunch of clear grass-like stuff growing down there, and when I put water in, it waved around like it was in the ocean. It smelled kinda pond-like.

I killed it - and I stopped coughing.

No, no, no. You put a little bit of soap in there with hot water, right. Then shake it up and let it stand for a little while. Then rinse it out with hot water until the soap's gone. Voila.

Have you rinsed anything before in your life or do you go to work with dried soap on you?

This has to be a joke....

A good rule of thumb is to "splurge" and treat yourself to a new bottle once a week. Evan washing it out with soap may not kill all the bacterial growth that can occur. Those caps are a perfect breeding ground for all kinds of funk to fester

Uhh...what kind if plastic is it made from? Some newer plastics are designed to biodegrade over shorter time periods. If it's the standard 1L plastic bottle on the grocery store shelf I'd ditch it after a week or two.
