It's just not what I want in a car - give me a car that's not a pig, has MT and a motor that sounds awesome.

Honda got 2 of those right with the Type R. Ditto Afla with the Guilia quadrowhatever.

Ford got all 3 with the GT350, I just don't have $60k to blow on a car.

We do NOT need another 400+ hp pig, just go to a BMW or Audi dealer for your choice of those.

Uuuhhh embarrassing Mercedes.

Production, delayed advertising launch that landed during the pandemic, and Forester. You pulling random things out of thin air doesn’t make what you believe true.

I'll tell you where they live: in spec sheets, brochures, and magazines

Part of it is to blame on manufacturers trying to constantly one-up each other, sure. But I agree, this obsession with huge HP is silly. If your car only has 450HP while your competitor's has 480HP, shame on you!

Someone remind me on what planet would 400HP not be plenty of power for the street, which is where probably 90% of all WRX/STi owners will ever drive their cars? People these days are somehow brainwashed into thinking that anything with less power than a Hellcat is wimpy lol.

I live in reality where 300 horsepower doesn't cut it anymore.

I struggle to understand why someone would buy a sports car and not actually use its power. I didn't buy any of my cars for appearance. I bought them to drive.

I personally keep going back to the 400 horsepower or bust topic because that would be the sweet spot for an all wheel drive turbo car. There's a huge gap price wise between 300hp and 500hp cars and I'm holding out hope for this STI to fill the void. I'm not trying to spend $60,000 on an RS3, GT-R, or upcoming M3.

It's all about appearance for most people. If the power is usable, the number doesn't matter. The STI is fine with 300+ hp, but it just needs an updated engine that uses that power better.

The BRZ's hp wouldn't be such a source of complaint if the torque dip was absent.

Most people's problem with the CVT transmission is how it uses the power it has at its disposal. It needs to be usable and predictable.

The hp number doesn't tell the whole story.
