In other news, what can you supply for cat-backs and downpipes for a 2005 Outback XT. These are usually Legacy GT fitment, but require the downturn tips.

Also, do you have a line on replacing/fixing the center bearing on the prop shaft, or somewhere to get a prop shaft assembly for cheaper than dealer cost for the same car?

Lowered to about a finger gap between the tire and fender but still stock 17 Bbs wheels, so still inside the fender well. Kw V1's are none adjustable, they are factory pre set. Only noticed the clunk on the left front Thursday night. Checked the top hat nut Friday morning, it was fine. Had time today after work to check the rest of the front end and that's when i found my dead coilover. Just around 1000km on them.

How do you know it is dead? Just curious so I can check mine. My rears make a noise until the bump. I have them set a little high and Dales thinks the piston is just above the oil level.

Not seized, it's like a seal leaked.

Dale's was just looking at my car in prep for an alignment and they did a compression test on the struts (crow bar pushing the wheel up). All struts compressed fine except for the passenger side. The whole car moved up as if the strut was seized. Daily driving isn't too bad except for hard left turns - more roll now. Plus there is a slight clunk. Anyhow, I had the struts revalved at Feal 2 1/2 years ago so I emailed Odi - time for a revalve.

I have never heard a negative comment from someone who has used Dale's services...they know what they are doing there

Hey man! If you have certain exhaust's in mind that you are interested in just send me an email and I can get you some pricing. If you want me to dig into it for you, same thing, just send me an email and I can see what I can come up with for you

As for the steady bearing, this is a very personal frustration of mine! Subaru has made it so you can only replace the driveshaft on our vehicles and not actually replace the steady bearing or U-Joints... completely stupid. I even sent a spare shaft I had off to a driveshaft shop in town to see if they could come up with a way to repair it and they said absolutely not possible unfortunately.

What are the benefits & pitfalls of removing the air pump on a 2011 STi?

pros: you dont get that stupid CEL, there's no potential for it to be stuck open (maybe causing long term damages)

cons: time consuming to remove; labour is pricey if a shop does it.

pre-07s never had it.. it's just for emissions during start up IIRC

The air pump delete is for cold start emissions, that is correct. The air pump comes on for about 30 seconds when you first start the vehicle and then doesn't come on again. The secondary air valves are very problematic and common to get stuck. The reason for this is the amount of condensation that flows through the exhaust builds up inside the valves and they rust out and seize. If they seize closed there is not much in the way of risk for the car but if they seize open then you can end up having hot exhaust gasses enter the intake and do damage.

As a shop, when we delete these, we install the LIC block off plate kits and remove the barometric pressure sensor for one of the valves so it is retained for proper running of the engine. You will require an accessport with access tuner race or open source to be able to turn off the codes associated with the air pump and secondary air valves but it's a much less expensive fix than repairing the system to factory spec and becomes a worry free repair.

agreed. repairing to factory spec doesnt mean it'll prevent it down the road. it fails like clockwork!

Dales does it the right way!! some shops may just remove part of the system..
