Default Just installed new pads and rotors 2 days ago.....

.....and my rear brakes make a s**t ton of noise when I brake lightly.... I have DBA Slotted rotors and EBC Green Stuff pads. I took them off and looked at the rear pads and the break in coating has already worn off. It sounds like they aren't grabbing enough at light braking and that is causing them to make noise. It's not that high pitch squeal either I can't really describe the noise. I guess it's because it's cold out?? Could anyone shed light on this??

well...slotted rotors are noisy but my big question is what "kind" of noise (pulsing like they are hitting something ever so lightly?) and how did you bed them in?

Might be interesting to get a set of cheap Autozone "WearEvers" and slap them on there and see how it sounds.

There's your problem. EBC Green Stuff pads are probably the worst pad ever made.

Yea I have the 4000 slotted on the Rear, but I have the 5000 in the Front with EBC yellow's the rears were squeaking for like the first 1k miles not really happy with them, after the winter I'll probably swap out for some Hawk pads

Does anybody have any experience with the Hawk HPS Pads or any of the Hawk Pads?

I had Hawk HPS Pads in my Stoptechs and liked them a lot. No noise, and less dust than the Axxis Ultimates I had before.

HP+'s are noisy as hell and eat rotors. I've had good luck with HPS. Honestly though, if you're just driving on the street on expensive rotors, I'd think you'd want pads that were gentle on the rotors. I replace my rotors every year so, the pads can eat them up and I don't care (and my rotors are cheap). In your case, I'd get a set of ceramic pads like they sell at autozone or the akibono's the sell at tire-rack. Quiet and you can't really see the dust. Unless you're autocrossing or tracking the car, they're perfect.

hawk HP+ and hawk HPS are a world apart. The HP+ are a much harsher compound and even according to the manufacturer they are a track pad. The HPS are easy on the street and I loved mine. I will be getting a full set to upgrade my current ride fairly soon.

Not really crap (the greens suck). The Reds are not to bad for a DD. A pretty aggressive ceramic. That i think overall out preforms the HPS i had.

But, honestly I would still with your decision on the HPS.

Solely because my V2 Reds take a longer to warm up (2-3 200+ feet stops for good bite) in the colder weather unlike the HPS. I won't hit the brakes until 10 miles down the road. Go to hit them and there is absolutely no bite.

HP+ on a DD ??
No...don't do it. I did it once. Bought new blanks and pads 5k miles later.
