i have the mishimoto hose kit. it works ok. but in reality im probably going to just buy some 5/16 silicone heater hose for my coolant lines and use regular silicone line for breathers when i figure out a catch can situation. the mishimoto coolant lines going to the radiator dont fit that well. i was only able to use one of the coolant lines from the plastic tank to the turbo. the lower one did not fit. i deleted my GBOd so the valve cover breather hoses are not really practical to use anymore... the hose kit is good for a stock car but if you are modding and going to be changing things just use generic hose. no matter what dont spend $300 on hoses.

cut the old hose make sure you reinstall it in the correct direction so it blocks air from leaving the booster then just dip it in some soap and water and jamb it in with a screwdriver or warm the hose itself by boiling it and then stab the pill in

Thanks, didn't know it was directional. Either way got the longer side closes to the turbo

Not sure about the restrictor pill for the wastegate I deleted that and run a grimmspeed EBCS I was referring to the valve/checkball pill from the intake manifold to the brake booster

are these hoses entirely replaced by the MISHIMOTO ancillary hose kit (https://www.tdotperformance.ca/mishi...EaAhTfEALw_wcB), or would I need more?

No; the kit itself doesn't list which hoses it can replace, but if you throw "2003 subaru mishimoto hose install" into a search engine, there's a youtube posted Feb 15, 2012 by Mishimoto Automotive that shows you where each of the hoses in the kit go.

IIRC it's all the hoses off the coolant tank reservoir- Hoses A, C, H, I (though I couldn't get the short 90 degree underneath to fit, and the two long ones to the radiator need different than stock hose clamps), plus the three to the IC hoses (B, D, and G). Hose U and... one I'm forgetting.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the write-up and pics. Very helpful.

That 14mm breather hose mentioned in the beginning along with hoses E and X: I got it out no problem without futzing with the turbo. Mine was rock solid, and came out in about 30 pieces but should be easy if still rubber. All three hoses (14mm, E, X) and the junction fitting come as an assembly from Subaru for $38.

I opted against the silicone kit, but this guide was instrumental in checking each line and finally eliminating my persistent vacuum/?/boost leak.

Thanks again.

Default The usefulness

This post is perfect. I'm finishing up and engine swap and didn't take pics of all the hoses so I had a little trouble remembering the hose paths. This clearly laid it all out for me. made my life way easier. Thanks a lot man!

Maybe it's obvious but how do you get the restrictor pill inside of the tubing? I just ordered the same hose kit as you suggested and they look awesome. Can't wait to put them in this weekend.

Default What is this hose?

Howdy, I was wondering if anyone could explain where does this hose hook up to? We can't find the other end and it has the same type of clamp as the rubber fuel lines. It came out suprisingly when we were removing the intake manifold but we can't seem to find any place that it came from. The clamp was very tight as well when it just came off.

We put the intake manifold and connected all the hoses and vacuum lines except for that one I mentioned in my previous post.

Not sure if it's related or not but, car idles fine and runs fine, however, when i'm at 3000rpm and push the gas in, the RPM's shoot up immediately but I don't feel the same reaction at the wheels, then the rpm levels out to the same speed the tranny is in and then it goes.

Could this be related? Could my clutch be a senior citizen? Or could it be the BOV which I got for free and just stuck on there for fun.

No check engine light or anything else that I can think of and I would appreciate if someone could shine some light on this? Thanks!

sounds like a problem in the clutch or somewhere in the drivetrain.

Yes, the clutch was toast, put a new kit in and it works great.

However, still not sure what that hose was but no issues since placing all of the vacuum lines in after doing the annoying leaking fuel line fix that required us to remove the entire intake manifold + hoses.

If anyone figures out what that hose is, feel free to let me know please : )

The hose that you highlighted in green looks like the infamous hose to nowhere that has been referenced here. I just went thru the same thing, not knowing where to connect this but it turns out it doesn't connect to anything... There is one on each side of the engine.

Anybody know what this is called or where to get one? It broke in half causing a vacuum leak, I just superglued it for the pic. Tried looking up vacuum line fittings and none looked like it.

Found it, it's part of the vacuum hose assembly 22310AC241. Tired of having to buy whole assemblies because of one little broken piece.

Thank you!!

found a small leak in the turbo<>engine block coolant hose (see pic). Replaced it while i was replacing all the other hoses on my 04 wrx using this thread.

If you have a mysterious coolant leak on the passenger side/turbo side, check this hose.

Great write up man! Great stuff! Where does the hose just below the IACV and to the right of it go?

I’m looking around and notice that there isn’t a hose connected there or on the throttle body under the inter cooler. I’m thinking the hose popped off and that they should have a hose connected to each other. What do you guys think?
