1:33.85 isn't too slow.
A friend runs 1:30.x at Grattan in an '08 135i that has no catalytic converters, a gutted muffler, new downpipes, Dinan tune, KW v3 coilovers, R-comps, and very little of the factory interior still installed. 3 seconds is still a bit of time for a 2.1 mile road course, but 370hp in something that isn't light suggests they did a lot of work with the suspension and likely the ESC/TCS calibration on the police cruiser. |

Best times for an AWD test sedan? Other than the Taurus what else relevant have they tested?

It's still not as fast as a Motorola !
Seems like they should be more focused on capacity, durability and operating cost when it comes to the selection of cruisers. |

There is an awd Explorer fitted for PD use. Our department just picked up a handful of them to see how the commands like them. They are pretty damn nice and make sedans kinda pointless for police work. You can fit up to 4 people (3 comfortably) in the rear seat, there's gobs of room for gear in the back, and the front is easy to get in and out of without destroying your back.

Grattan is a very fun track with a lot of different elements. The main straight is really long (used to be a drag strip), and then there are on and off camber turns, some blind corners, elevation changes, and plenty of bumps to watch out for as they may unsettle a car. Thankfully they tend to have a lot of run-off and it's a bit forgiving if you make a mistake and end up in the grass. |
