Fast Motorsports Exhaust Review
Sorry if this is a weak review, but I have never done one before.
So I decided That I needed something quieter for my car. I had the SRS N1 style exhaust which overall quality of the exhaust was very high, but it was way loud, and after 2 years it seemed to be getting louder. also on the highway just doing short trips was becoming 45 minutes of semi hell. I will admit I am getting old. So I started to look around and saw the eBay surewin exhaust which is quite popular, then saw srs made a copy of that, and gimmick, and a bunch of other companies. Which were really all copies of another certain "big name" company. All the same thing in a different package, but then I saw on import image's website this "new" exhaust. Looked like all the others but it came from an actual store, not just some eBay place. Ordered it on Monday and it was at my door this afternoon. Initial thoughts: Man this thing looks really cool. The welds are super high quality and it's very lightweight. I ran over to my friends garage so I can use a lift, and a torch, and the old one was off and the new one on within 30 minutes. I was nervous about the FM exhaust hitting things but once it tightened down there was no rubbing. Def glad I already had extended hangers in the rear, or I'd be in trouble. Started the car up and thought, "man this isn't any quieter ! Oh well at least it's shiny." I failed to realize that noise resonates in a garage. A LOT ! Once outside it's boatloads quieter. The best part was cruising through town and instead of the car barking and snarling with much anger, it just had a nice quiet purr. On the highway at cruise there was almost no noise inside the cabin. At idle I could actually hear my walbro whine, which i never have before. Overall very pleased for my initial review. Now to see how it stands up to a couple on New York winters.

Sounds like you got what you were looking for. I (on the other hand) want something that is loud as **** so sounds like that old SRS exhaust will work perfectly for me. I guess you'll be shipping it today then?

FMS also has a catless "y" downpipe. I was thinking about getting it, especially for the price, but just wanted to know if it would be beneficial or pointless/harmful to have with my stock turbo since it has an internal wastegate. Its either that or a megan..

I just installed this cat back, I previously had the N1 street. WOW it's quiet. (Mated to my Ti-tek catted down pipe)
My girlfriend says she can still tell when I'm coming home, so I have not lost the "subie rumble" it's just a lot quieter. Fitment for me was not too great, the axleback actually hits my rear diff, but a simple smack with a hammer will give the pipe a nice dimple and all will be well. CAN'T BEAT THE PRICE THOUGH!!!! |

After much research. All Subaru WRXs sound about the same in term of SPL level. I have measured mine inside and outside and it sound the same as an 02 or 05 WRX. I have an 09 WRX wagon and this exhaust is loud and obnoxious.

The engine in my Subaru was finally finished receintly, & started driving it again. One of the things I replaced was the header with one be FMS. Unfortunately the header has a leak at the slip joint, so when I accelerate it sounds like I'm driving a lawn mower.
Has anyone come across this problem before, & what did you do to correct the leak? |
