Post is it possible to de-stroke the 2.5?

Has anyone used the 2.0L Crankshaft in the 2.5RS to bring the Displacment down but raise the rpm's? I have always liked the idea of de-stroked engines (ex. a destroked Chevy 400ci small bloke with a 350 crank for 377ci for you American muscle nuts )

Is this possible? Thanks!

Eric

Sure it's possible. If the WRX actually does have a forged crank, it would make an interesting project to use it in a 99mm bore 2.5L block. One of Trey Cobb's closed deck blocks, of course.

You would obviously need new rods and pistons, but a 99-100mm bore by 75mm stroke would be interesting. 9k rpm anyone?

(edited some numbers-- EJ25 is 99mm bore stock, 100mm overbore pistons are common.)
