Is a couple dollars here and there really gonna break your bank...? Devs work hard on those apps and sell them for pennies on the dollar provide free updates and weeks of entertainment... Cheap ass, you fix your Subie with stolen parts too? Never understood this concept, everything can't be free...

Parts can't be replicated with 100% accuracy and still have the original, programs can be. That's the fundamental difference between software piracy and theft. I pirated and ran Torque for a long while before I decided to buy it (before he released a free version). It's hard to give things a true test run in the 15 minute period google gives you to receive a program.

Work is work and time is time no matter what word you use to try and justify stealing.

It's use to be 24 hours which is plenty of time, I'll agree with you that 15 minutes isn't long enough but stealing is stealing and there's no justification. Now if you always end up buying the app once you run it for a day or so, that's at lest better but that guy was advocating stealing every app and nothing more.

Also given the proper equipment parts can be duplicated just as well as software, problem is to duplicate them perfectly costs just as much in the end so there's no money to be made

It's still completely different to copy an apk than it is to break into your garage and steal your rims because I like them. Most people who pirate 100% are the ones who wouldn't buy it were there not an opportunity to pirate, so you can't look at that as robbing a dollar from someone when a dollar would never be given.

It's not as black and white as your portraying it, but then again things rarely are.

So would you have bought the wheels if you didn't steal them off of my car? Most people who steal steal because they can not because if they didn't steal they wouldn't get what they were stealing in the first place...I really can't believe your advocating stealing, stealing is stealing tangible or intangible it's theft... Oh officer I wasn't going to buy these wheels if they weren't freely available on street, thus I wasn't stealing I was being an opportunist...

Why should I pay a dollar for an app because I feel it is worth the dollar while you steal the app and use it for free because otherwise if it wasn't free you wouldn't use it...wtf...I would gladly use the app for free or pirated too but I would rather be honorable and reward someone for a good job then steal their product and say, "Oh well if I wasn't able to steal it I wouldn't use it anyhow so it's cool it isn't stealing..." UMMM no that wouldn't fly in court, seriously...

What it is and what it has always been is, stealing wheels is hard and you have a much higher risk of getting caught, pirating an app is an anonymous crime so thus it's ok, there is no risk involved...cowardly crimes are ok, risky crimes not so much. If you steal 5 dollars or 500 it's still stealing so stealing a 5 dollar app is no different then 500 dollar wheels...

Not all stealing is equal, which is why there is petty theft, theft, larceny, grand larceny, etc. $5 is petty theft, a misdemeanor. In my state $500 is considered grand larceny, a felony, and punishable for 1-20 years in prison.

So no, they are not the same. Stealing $5 is not stealing $500, and pirating an app is not stealing your rims.

If you miss that concept, along with all the words you're putting in my mouth, then you don't have any hope.

Wow this thread now depresses me. Can't believe some people think that way...

Anyways! I'll try to bring it back on topic...

One super cool addition I've made since starting this thread is to apply a matte screen protector. This removes glare and fingerprints, which is a huge plus when driving in sunny days.

Specifically I bought the BodyGuardz HD/Anti-Glare screen protector. Looks great!

I went with a Techarmor 3 pack from Amazon.

Still looking for a better mounting solution, similar to what this guy did. A DIY solution.

Last I will say, and if 100 people steal the 5 dollar app there is $500 out of the devs pocket ($300 technically cuz of Google's 20%) and stealing an app is much easier then stealing parts so you can bet there are more app thieves then part thieves... yeah you didn't commit larceny and it is a "different" degree of theft but in the mid evil days they would cut off your had for stealing an app... stealing is stealing and I would look at my son the same way if he stool $5 or $500 from someone and got caught... don't be a cheap ass, support a dev.

Hey Zedix, AWESOME thread! I'm in the middle of planning my own build and I had just 1 question, when you mounted the JVC HU into the gaping hole above the hvac vents, I noticed you said that it was just "sitting there". Does it ever slide around? I'm worried about track days

I'd be more worried about how you will be playing Angry Birds while on the track....

Also it is completely dependent on the headunit, and it's length. The KD-X50BT is a bit long and doesnt fit that well in the "gap" so I had to wrapp it in foam. and shove it the back perpendicularly.

For the specific head unit I got, it's incredibly snug. Never had any concerns about it going anywhere

Ahh I see, well, it looks like theres enough space to add in a bar on top of the receiver to secure it to the interior of the dash. Is onsit right about the model of the head unit? KD-X50BT? Imma use that dimensions of that as a measuring stick, currently trying to decide on which headunit to get.

The KD-X50BT has a front AUX which interferes with the backing of the nexus. I would avoid it at all costs. This is what caused me to have to flip the HU around.

oh, i just wanted to know the model so i'd know how much room was inside the area that the OP mounted it, I might go with a alpine CDE-137BT and a 4 channel amp

Just ordered a custom one of 3d printed mount for my Galaxy 2 7". Specs look pretty good. Supposedly mounts great on the two top vents in the impreza.
