Eastern Idaho owners(or any ID really) Check-In!!! Local Get-togethers??
This is a new thread to catch attention for local (Eastern Idaho and surrounding areas..) guys n gals to check in and see if we have enuf interest for local get-tegethers, drives, bbq, shows, etc. Also a good opportunity to show your Suby so people will recognize ya around the area (unless you prefer not to be ).
I usually try to put on one drive, show/bbq, event of some variety every month during the summer months. I tried to come up with a flyer in early spring so people had early notification of event dates, etc. I used to do it as a local MR2 club, as thats my other automotive passion, however I got quite sick of lots of people wanting to go and no one showing. Maybe its just time to find a new crop of people... When it comes to events, I'm not biased about who shows, what brand of vehicle, etc, or who organizes anything. No need for clubs, dues, organization levels, etc, just people out to get together and have fun. As for me? I'll start the AA intros: I'm Chris, and this my addiction:

Well I'm in South East ID, but obviously there's no reason you N. Idaho guys can't use this thread to organize too. or start a N. ID one. Either way works for me.
JJ WRX: good to see at least one local already. 05 WRX? WRB or PSM? (thats all there seem to be in our town..) |

yes, i've met him on here. His post on wheel issues kinda gave away which car it was.
Yup, hopefully i'll be in town the weekend at the end of the month, and we can all do something. if not, there's a car show at tautphaus park in june on fathers day weekend, and we usually make a sunday appearance and do a bbq while we're there to give us something to do. I'm not a car show/shine/trophy kinda guy, but its not that kinda show and its real laid back. Just a fun get together with lots to wander around n see. Best way i know to spend father's day. |

It sure is. I took that picture on the way to your place that one night you installed my headers.
Just installed an OEM STI axleback last night. Sounds pretty sick now! Also would you be interested in helping me with a rear brake conversion? Got some 02-03 WRX whole rear brake setup to replace my drum brakes. |

Not from Idaho, but visiting soon...
From eastern WA, but will be in Bliss, ID (figuratively and literally) late June. Visiting brother-in-law, will be bored, maybe keep track here and if anything happening, I could join you somewhere for a chat, bite to eat, whatever. Cheers! |

So how do you get a WRX in HS? i had a crappy old jeep. |

good way to get a nice car. looks like you're at least getting a good business sense
as far as learning cars? just lots and lots of time in doing things. Don't be afraid to research and take on just about any job. You only know how to build n swap motors for example if you've been there n done that. Nothing on cars it really that complicated (those its getting worse every year i swear). As far as your wrx goes, this board is probably the single greatest resource out there. Way better than any shop manual you can buy. Don't be afraid to work on your car, and to help others work on theirs. It's all valuable experience. The best advice i can give if you want nice cars, and want them to last and avoid fixing everything all the time, is to keep any modifications to the realm of "improvements". Don't do anything that will negatively affect the vehicles longevity or performance unless the positives FAR outweigh it. Be reasonable in your expectations. I.E. Swapping suspension to better, quality stuff and adding light mods, good tuning, etc can offer no real downside. Running 25lbs of boost on a stock block with a big, slow-spooling turbo, tuned by some shady guy down the road, within an inch of its life? Not good. Expecting 10-20% more performance from your car without sacrificing reliability? Do-able. Expecting it to out perform Porsche race cars and the ilk? Probably not. Not without a lot of maintenance and breaking stuff. The closer you keep it to stock, the more reliable it will be. Always keep that in mind. If you want an example of how mods can easily affect the vehicle in a negative way, ride in my Civic. The suspension drives me nuts (I didn't do it, but i'm not spending money to fix it if its just getting sold soon). |

Thank you! i have always been scared to work on my car i have messed with some stuff but nothing to serious. But what starter mods would you suggest? for now i have just stuck with the cobb short ram not much but i figured it wasn't that hard to install... i have been thinking about going for the staged setup that cobb has with the access port and turbo back what do you think? please tell me what you would do it would be very helpful

yes, thats probably the best bang for the buck. Buy a cheap used AP V1 (not sure there's any reason to get a V2 honestly). Then grab a decent used downpipe and cat-back and there ya go. Stg 2 for low bux. Other than that, the best mod i can recommend for the 05 body style is getting your big fogs back. Keep an eye out for a used set of jdm fogs. Our usdm's suck.
This was my 04 before the change: |

Your car looks great! so do you think the V1 would be hard to find?
