Your 3-4 fork broke? Where exactly? What kind of wear did it show? My forks all looked fine. Odd issue that they'd break unless you're really slamming the gears. |

Well might as well just do it once then I suppose. What turbo to hit 500WTQ? Seems like the Subaru guys don't run enough boost on the bigger turnos to make that much. Dom 2.5 , i used 500 as a reference point not actual #, but I do think its possible to get close. |

E85, right? Crank the boost up to 28psi and it should be close.

Peak torque should at least match mine. Probably will spool a little later but it will make better top end. You'll need to crank up the boost close-ish to 30psi and be on a high-ish dyno to make 500WTQ though. Run 24psi like a lot of people around here and you'll probably see less torque than me with similar or slightly better power.

What's your motor and fuel setup? I think those are holding me back from going any further.

Yeah, I think that engine will be a time bomb and the fueling will definitely limit your power to something similar to mine. If you run the Aero 340 on E85 then let me know how it goes. It's the biggest stock location pump but I've read some good and some bad things about it on E85. It would definitely be the easiest way for me to squeeze some more fuel out of my system (especially when paired with an FPR and/or boost-a-pump).

Doesn't the DW65C outperform the 255?

Lots of good stuff in this thread. Seeing as I'm trying to prepare a list to start gathering parts I hope y'all will talk about the fueling setup a bit more

Well right now it's just a Walbro 255 and Five0 1200cc injectors. I'm pretty much maxing it out with my current power (on E85). I'm not sure if/when I'll go for more and what I will do at that point.

Here's a video of the mounts + straight cut gears. It should be HD soon. I have a second video uploading now.

About startup noise:
I have done basically every bushing possible except motor mounts on my '12 STI. This includes TIC's crossmember bushings which I see almost nobody doing and stock were jokingly pliable. http://turninconcepts.com/product_in...roducts_id=310 Anyway. I mostly used Group N stuff to avoid tranny whine and general noise. I consider myself to have a generally conservative view on noise. The front/rear shifter bushing added the most noise of all mounts/bushings (including tranny mount) for me but it was easily acceptable. Until that solid pitch stop. Cranking the starter sounds like a... digital jackhammer or something. Personally startup happens so rarely that it's fine with me and it's was very worth it since it tightened up the drivetrain the MOST out of every bushing/mount I have done. I agree that's the most likely cause of start p noise.. The motor mounts probably only add to the problem. Personally, if my imaginative wife complained of noise I would know it was the awesome pitch stop and then I would cough at every start-up to cover it up. |

I really didn't find the shifter bushings to add much of anything for NVH. Probably 1% of what I added with the recent mounts. I had done a DIY Group N tranny mount prior to this (3M window weld in the stock mount), and it didn't really change anything as far as I could tell. It's good to know the pitch stop is what is causing the crazy start up noise. The start up noise is odd, but not really that big of a deal. The extra whine in all the gears while driving is quite loud and obtrusive though. But it does seem to be smoothing out (break in of bushings), either that or I'm just getting used to it. I may have to try swapping back to the stock pitch stop someday. It only takes 5 min and then I would know exactly how much is due to that vs. the other mounts. |

I personally loooove the sound of straight cut gears!!! I don't know if I could handle it as a daily but it sounds like it's pretty tolerable from the video. Now if you would make some flip switches for your fuel and starting system we can really get this project going.

Looks good! I'm surprised you would do something like that. I really like the colors on the first photo. Did you use multiple polarizations on that?
Lol! Just saw your post in the DSLR thread commenting on the colors and the multiple polarization! |
