On a side note, my AccessPort just arrived! Reading through the documentation and installing the software now. Then to download the tune and put it on my car. Downpipe should get here later today so I won't be stage 1 for long haha.

Making the drive an event on FB. RSVP if you are going. Also, we should nail down a time for the F&F meet!

Ya. I'm home all this week! Pretty much anytime is good for me. Is Justin in town this week?

As for the drive, who wants to let me ride along?

So I found 2 possible blocks and am kind of torn, the first is an ej22t which could be fun as a 2.35 stroker. The second is another 257 and would be stay mostly stock untill I have the money for a long rod setup.(this is the one I am leaning toward) anyone have any comments or ideas either way?

Ej22 is closed deck right? I'd go with the 257 so u don't run into overheating issues. Heard some people having that problem... You could always destroke the 257...

Yes the 2.2 is a closed deck, and that is exactly what I was thinking with the 257 although I am torn between destroking with tge 205 crank and +4 rods and just putting +2 rods/custom pistons in and keeping the 79mm stroke so as not to lose displacement. when balanced properly and using a lightly modded oem oil pump mps as well as several other shops are safely revving to between 8k-8500 which would be plenty high for me and having my tq curve start a little earlier.

I'm keeping mine 79 stroke. Couldn't decide for the longest time if I wanted to destroke it or give it a longer stroke. Decided to leave it the way it is though. Going with 100mm pistons. I'm not really worried about making it high rev. But I figure with the head work I'm doing. 7500 should be reasonable enough. I'm just excited at all the extra torque I'm gonna have!

If I were in that position, I'd be going with the mps-type long-stroke 2.3. Sounds like the best option to me these days.
It seems like starting with the basic 2.5 hybrid will work out the easiest for ya Jesse.

1/4 of the way through installing my new DP. Heat Shield was like "F U IM NOT COMING OFF EASY!" Then I got to the bolts connecting the DP to the turbo and it is currently like "WHAT THE HEAT SHIELD SAID YO!"

3/5 Out. Sprayed some WD40 on the other 2 and I'm letting them sit for a minute.

Take your time with them. If you strip a stud on the turbo, it's not fun. Replacements aren't hard to come by necessarily, but it is a pain to remove them. Wd40 ain't bad, but get some real penetrating oil/pB blaster/etc for the future. Use anti-seize on them when you put them back together. I wish car companies would use it on exhaust parts from the factory. Would save a lot of hassle.

Well the one closest to the center of the car on the other side of the DP came out. Like, instead of the nut turning, I pulled the whole stud out >.<. Deciding what to do about that. Also, apparently they made the O2 sensor so that it was never supposed to be unplugged. So I'll have to take it out with the pipe still on the car, and then reinstall it that way as well. Might take a bit longer, but better that than breaking it and having to get a new o2 sensor.

If it were me, i'd just drop a new stud in, but i have them around somewhere. If you don't wanna go grab one, then put some nuts on the other side n take the first one off after soaking it in penetrating oil/etc.

As far as the O2? it should come out. Should take a 22mm to get it out of the pipe, and as far as the electrical, there should be a connection about 1ft up-wire. I doubt its much diff on an 07 than any other 93-07 WRX/STi type setup, since the exhausts are all virtually identical.

That is what I am thinking to, I actually bought the 2.5 a couple hours ago. I really do like the destroked 2.34, I think a +2 2.5 would do everything I would ever need/want but being as how both options are essentially the same price I think the 2.34 is the way to go even if the extra rev capacity is never used and you just look at the longer ring and bearing life due to the improved rod ratio.

Got everything installed. The o2 sensor was a PITA because there are two places it is tied to the frame in addition to the plug. But we got it out eventually, and the Nvidia downpipe locates the o2 so that is is fairly snug when it plugs in, making it so you don't need to reconnect it to the two other spots.

On the DP I have everything hooked up except for the one stud that came out. I'll be picking up a new stud and bolt for that spot. I'm going to order a new Heat Shield too.

DP installed, tuned for Stage 2 93 Octane. Driving conservatively for now, but that didn't keep me from doing one 2nd gear 2k to 6k pull. My face when: http://media.photobucket.com/image/r...sweetjesus.gif

If you need a new stud cal ranch has them, I believe they are even 10.9 grade but I can't remember for sure(and they cost about 1/10 of what they are from subaru).

Really? When did they do that? I was there this evening but didn't fill up. I'm headed up there tomorrow morning to fill up though. I don't really know anywhere else with 93. The Stinker on Yellowstone?
