How about reading one of the thousand threads on oil, located in the correct forum?

I use MobilOne High Mileage Full Synthetic 5W30 with the MobilOne high mileage filter (up to 20k miles per filter). Been doing this for about 5 years now and everything seems to be running great! Hope this helps

Am I bad that I dont give much of a **** about these specialty oils?

I buy full synthetic oil and 5w30.. but I change oil/filter every 3K miles, so I have a hard time ponying up $40 for royal purple or similar when I can get 5 quarts of Pennzoil Platnium from walmart for $22 or most recently $12 after rebate.. whatever is on sale.

In a wide range of driving situations covering a large geographic area and with a wide range of engines, I've observed that PP seems to generally be very consistent. Across the various engines I've personally owned, UOAs with PP have has the trend of being consistently positive and I've used it (along with PU) on a variety of cars (although I'm currently using X-Cess with my EJ). Factor in the affordability and availability of PP and the end result seems to usually be a high standard of performance for a very reasonable price.
