I'm at about 600 miles, but I will let the car warm up to in between a quarter and half the oil temp before I start driving to work.

Probably once it surpasses 1000 miles is when I won't baby the warm up process.
Do you have an oil temp or pressure gauge? The stock temp gauge in the car is water temp which warms up much faster than the oil does. I just recently hooked up an oil pressure gauge and even knowing this I was a little surprised how long it takes to get to operating point. FWIW I end to start her up and go. Just keep the shifts below 3k and no boost until things have warmed up.

Your "rev limiter" is just an indicator light that tells you when to up shift.

Can't.... Be.. Serious....?

(no, your manual does not say that. Please re-read it! You are burning tons of extra fuel, and all that idle time is not helping your engine.)

My method is this. I get in the car. Put on my seatbelt and release the parking brake. Put in reverse. Start the car and immediately (less than 1 second) back out of my garage. Then 1st and drive out of the driveway onto the road.

I think this is how you're supposed to drive every car lol!!! I thought it's already been established over and over warming up the car in idle isn't good for the engine. You're supposed to warm it up by driving it easy until the engine get up to temperature.

And I'm glad no one in my family know how to drive a stick so I won't have to worry about such thing lol. Definitely not letting friends try my car until after the break-in period.

Lol my dad did a similar thing when I got my WRX. When it had only 50 miles on it he took it around town (WOT whenever he could) and loved riding that clutch. Smelt like burnt plastic and clutch when he was done with it.

It's ok, it's dad.

Do the same to your kid, too. That's life!

The rev limiter actually controls the max rpm the engine can reach. You would be referring to a shift light.

Yep but I think that was what he was referencing when he said he set his rev limiter to 4,000 rpm unless he changed the tune.

I've never driven my car as hard as my dad did, he came from the 70s muscle car drag racing days. He power shifted my 08 stage two wrx and chirped through 3 rd haha didn't know it was possible. Can't get mad at dad, I learned everything I know about cars from him.
