Default jdm v7 longblock or usdm 2.5 shortblock?

So what a surprise, I want more power. I am considering the idea of a swap. The 2 ideas I have looked into are a jdm v7 long block or a usdm 2.5 shortblock. I know either way I wil have to do some tranny work (gear swap or used sti tranny). I am currently running a vf34 w/ an sti tmic. This is likely to change after the swap. Has anyone performed either of these 2 options and if so what are you putting down. Thanks.

About once a month gruppe-s gets in some ver7 engines at really nice prices, I got my ver7 without turbo, injectors, and i/c for $2999 with only a couple hundred miles on it. Sell your engine for $1500-$2000 and you have the money to upgrade your tranny or a little bit more and get the JDM 6 speed. The swap is fairly simple and you can find all the answers on here. Go JDM

I've decided to go big power, so I'm looking for bigger displacement. 2.5 but going forged.

sjl, you're going the route I'll be headed. PM me with some details and info man!

They get test motors in from time to time they are engines that have been run but not installed in a car. I guess there taken from a batch dynoed and then sold as used. If you ask me they are just as good as crate only less than half the cost! Call gruppe-s and ask when they will be getting some in again. Here are some pics of the one i got.

By the way you describe it I would say USDM 2.5. With the Ver7, you would need a BIG turbo. Even then the toprque will not be anywhere near 2.5 levels. That is what gewt you going not hp. Even with a 2.5 you will want more. I feeel that a 2.5 will keep you satisfied a little longer than the JDM motor. You will always want more. I kinda pick that up. It is common. I personally like spinning the motor. I live at 4k around town. So for me the JDM 2.0 made more sense. I will bet you crave torque not hp. That is where the rush comes from. Get the 2.5 and JDM heads. They are different and appeal differently to different people.

The best thing to do in all honesty, is to set a goalm make a plan, get there and be done. There is always more. If you chase the more you will never be happy. Even if you hit your goal you will not be happy realize that. Just the nature of the drug called excelleration. I have to resist the more every day.

You know what they say, hitting your power target is easy, I have done it a dozen times. Go big man, reduce the rework.
