Default Tick after timing belt change EJ205

Never noticed the sound before I had my timing belt changed. I noticed the tick driving on the way home and brought it back that next morning. He verified that the car was still lined up with all the timing marks. You don't really hear the tick at idle but a little bit on the gas you can hear it. Also he started the car to see if the ticking got louder with the timing belt cover off which it never did. Car has 102K KM its a EJ205. Could it be a bad lifter or possibly exhaust leak?

Turn the volume up

Does the sound increase/decrease with rpm?

Does it ever go away when the car is fully warmed up? Perhaps one of your timing belt guides is set too close to the belt?

Did you replace the tensioner or reuse the old one?

I had a timing belt guide set too close, must have spun a little as I torqued it down. It made a ticking sound that changed with revs.
