![]() It makes sense to move to steer by wire. Lighter, safer in collision, easier packaging, more comfort for driver, etc.

![]() Most are electrically power assisted steering (as opposed to hydraulic power assisted steering or non-assisted/manual steering). This would get rid of the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the steering rack.
