fb engine life time

so besides the oil issue with this engine has anyone got to 200,000 miles trouble free yet? who has the most miles on an fb? does one that uses oil at 15,000 get worse at 75000 etc?

The engine has only been out for ~ 5 yrs at most. Doubt anyone is doing 40k + a year on them. 100k is likely but 200k might only be one or two out there

CVT transmission make the engine last longer due to less rotation per miles.

wifes 11 forester has about 55k, no issues.
my dd 14 legacy has 7k,no issues.
my 08 wrx with 70k,no issues to date. i know its not a fb25 but still for reliability she has been an awesome car.

I've got 43k on my xv. It burned in the beginning, I just added oil. Now with 43k it has not burned any nor has the light came on. Using what ever 0w20 is on roll back at Walmart, or what ever is on sale with Subaru filters. No other issues besides a rattle in the heat shield and a blower motor resistor.

Proof do you have it or anything that relate that my answer is ridiculous?

The engine use less power to move the car with the CVT(at normal rate acceleration**).
Even when cornering the RPM is still at the lower side.
CVT can adjust engine speed for optimal engine oil temperature function, thus leading to less friction wear, etc on the engine side...
Since it's efficient, obviously it consume less gas & also less wear again on the engine.

No engine not use less power to move the car with CVT and cornering have no connection with RPM also CVT have no connection with engine oil temp either and fuel efficient not connected with less engine wear you dum dum you know not a lot about cars and you no speak good English but me still love you long time.

2015 Forester, 13k, no issues, no signs of oil consumption. Just a wonky bumper and dented spare tire well from a camry applying its front bumper to mine's rear. Body shop appointment monday

Manual trans and getting up to 34mpg on the I80 at sea level, 28-29 at 6000ft.

2012 Impreza 5 spd FB20 84k:

Burns 1.5+ qts between changes since new.

-Oil changes every 5k w/ subaru filter/oil

Car runs well, smooth outside of heatshield noise. Seems to consume oil more often during highway driving at 75+ mph where the 5MT is consistently at higher RPMs than a CVT would be.

yea that way my thought. cause my 2013 is just sitting in the garage not being used.bought for my girl friend who doesnt drive much since the accident and i have 3 company cars . still deciding to sell it or just keep it. 16,000.has 1200 miles since last change and the light hasnt come on. time to check the oil level.....

just checked the oil its down a 1/4 quart maybe a little more depending on how u read the stick.so im probably getting 2500 - 3000 or so miles to a quart.

It's a 2012 Impreza and it's in km's, so only 157,000 miles. Just got it and drives pretty much like new. I'm just hoping it doesn't have the oil consumption issue, but I'll find out soon enough.

I have a 2016 forester MT with 13,000 miles and have never gotten over 25 MPG on the highway. I also live along I-80 but at 2000ft.

I do like the car though. I highly recommend the EVO-one remote start system. it is awesome for the manual trans forester.
