Default Headlight Short

I went to replace my diver side headlight and noticed the black plastic around the push on connector was burnt. The plastic was fried and crumbled. Should I check for something to see why I got this short? Or was this just the bulb burning out that did it?

What kind of bulbs have you been using? If they were aftermarket, especially blue-coated "superwhite" ones, they tend to run hot and can damage the connectors and wiring. Once this happens you need to replace the connector to prevent future problems with headlight operation, parts stores sell them with wire pigtails.
If you use only OEM or equivalent bulbs this shouldn't happen.
