Unhappy 05 wrx alarm problem

Wonder if anyone can help...

There seems to be something wrong with the alarm system in my 05 WRX (yes I have the optional security system upgrade). When I armed the car, I noticed that the security light blinked quickly twice every second (i.e, blinked 2x rapidly followed by an approx 1 sec pause then blinked 2x rapidly again). I went ahead and open and closed all the doors since I thought the doors were not closed properly before. However, that did not solve the problem. I then proceeded to arm the car and opened the door with my key without disarming the system and the siren didn't ring at all.

I downloaded the alarm info from the site below. According to the info it doesn't sound like the alarm system was tripped...

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I don't want to take it to the dealer unless I absolutely have to since the shop is a bit far from my house.

it seems like your alarm is in valet mode.

keep a door opened, then (un)arm it again. I forgot whether it is to arm or unarm with the doors open, but that will take it out of valet mode, and the siren will go off when u open the doors with the key.
