1400 is a little low. I have a 2100 it seems to do the trick on everything, including the brake dust covered bbs. Any hardware shop, lowes, home depot ect... Thats where i got mine. Be carfull around rock chips and deep scratches if any on the car if you decided to wash it with that. Sometimes you can get cheap ones that have been outside or have scratches on them, make sure you get a gas powered one, electric is too weak.

I have a 1500psi electric pressure washer. Its definitely not as bad as pro934 describes. It cleans pretty well and since its not as strong as pro934's 2100psi pressure washer, I can be less careful when handling it. Mind you... I bought this pressure washer 2 years ago. If you are getting one now, I would suggest you to buy something 1700+.

I've used both gas and electric power washers. I've had an electric one for maybe 10 years now (forgot how many psi... think it's 1300 or something) and it does everything I need it to do.
Gas is definitely more powerful and it cleans faster. Gas is better for big jobs but can also do more damage to things if you're not careful. Electric cleans slower, but still cleans just as well in the end. What it really boils down to is what you plan on using it for and how much storage space you have... more psi is generally better though Last edited by danmezz; 09-24-2008 at 08:58 PM. |

Get one at Wally World for ~$140 for an electric. Use it for years until you realize you need more PSI (1800+)
And then ask us the same Q years from now. I have had a cheap Campbell Hausfield for years and I only wish I had more PSI once or twice a year. Brian |

I would stick to something with more 2000 to 3000 psi. Nothing more or you start to risk your paint. Or adjust it to be within that pressure range. If you have vinyl covering like some race cars you have to use light pressure as they will shred.
Avoid trying to use a pressure washer to remove bugs or bird poop. As you put your paint at risk. Electric pressure washers are generally a joke. A gas powered unit it generally going to last so much longer. I would also avoid buying a off beat brand. Definatly avoid using a 0 degree tip. |

I bought a Petroll from lowes a few years back. it is only a 2000 PSI and it works great. The only thing that i have a downside on is it does not take off bugs that have been on there for a while. I also bought a bugtar solution and spray it on it is paint safe and i let it soak for a few minutes and then spraywash the car and it looks like new.

I've used both and like electric ones better. They aren't as powerful as gas powered ones, but it does the job. It also depends where the pressure washer is going to be located. The pressure washer was indoors for me, so having a gas powered one isn't all that feasible since the fumes didn't help

I have a gas one thats 2300 PSI and I love it. Its not overkill but its no bee-otch either. I've had this particular one for a few years and used to wash my motocross bikes with it.
I also went through 2 electric ones before that within a short period of time before i sac'd up and went gas power. |

basically it looks like everyone loves their Pressure washer no matter if it gas or electric. if all you want it for is to wash your car then im sure electric would do fine. i use electric and it works fine for me.
