This will be my first turbo stick as well. Do you plan on getting some winter tires or making due with the summers for the rest of the season?

Why is everyone having to order their cars? I bought mine in September. Just went to the dealer, drove one. Liked everything but the color. They found one exactly how I wanted it from another dealer. They got it to me in 2 days. The Subaru dealer ship where I live has 3 right out front. 2 hatches, 1 sedan. What's the problem?

I would guess price and availability. Here in the PNW its very hard to find any STi less than MSRP if they are on the lot. That's why I ordered and got mine less than invoice, with all the options I wanted for dealer cost.

Because most of the time when the car is already on the lot the dealer wants sticker price (MSRP) and sometimes even more. When I went car shopping locally all the dealers wanted like $1,000-$2,000 over sticker price.

I ended up ordering one from a dealer in NJ and paid $500 under invoice which is about $2,000 UNDER the sticker price.

How much did you pay for yours if you don't mind me asking?

Welcome to the forum and specifically to this thread.

Try not to go too crazy waiting - it's been hard for me.

Ordered: 1-7-13

Dealership is expecting VIN by 2-2

Some of us are picky about what we want in terms of color and options, and it also seems like a lot of these guys have small dealerships with not much inventory. I figured they make about a dozen pbp STi hatchbacks with nav each year, and got REALLY lucky to find one already in a dealer's pipeline. Sounds like you got lucky as well.

And yeah, cost. Paid invoice for mine.

Because some of us are paying otd what you probably paid before taxes, doc fees, title, etc. it's cheaper, get exactly what you want, and it's brand new off the truck

Being picky is really the main reason. I could walk into my local dealer and pay under invoice for any of the cars he has. But that's obviously limited to stock.

Like Eric.s said, for me it was availability. Here in Seattle (and the surrounding 300 miles) I could barely find a WRX that was in inventory, let alone a WRB hatchback WRX. Most dealers would have access to 1 or 2, but most of them were sedans, and none of them were WRB.

I hope that happens for you. Most of us are months in, and still no VIN or ETA

I orderd my STI limited back in Mid Sept. Received the vin number in early January and its supposed to be here any day now. We shall see... I've got a box of gofast parts sitting here gathering dust

Dealer gave me whole " You'll get the vin number soon and it'll be delivered in a few months" speal as well. I guess 2 Japanese months = 5 US months lol.

My eta is 2/5 and I just got my vin today and my dealer told me the shipment process has begun. Does the eta means its getting to the dealer on 2/5?

Tomar,

I got my VIN at the very begining of Jan and was told to expect it 4-5 weeks later.

Talked to them last week to confirm and was told next week for sure. So it looks like a month or so from getting VIN.

I would have to agree with this. 3-4 weeks after vIn is recieved

VIN isn't given to dealers until the car hits the shore. That is what I have heard and makes the 3-4 weeks to the dealership make sense with accessory installs at port and transport.

VINs are given out when the car is made and shipped from Japan. That is why it takes around a month to fulfill afterwards.

This is the case with SDC and I believe SNE. But with regular SOA the VIN is given when the car leaves Japan.

That's true for SOA. But for SDC and SNE the VIN is given to the dealer once it hits the port in the US.
