Default Refurbishing Window Trim

My car is in the body shop for some much needed work. I wanted to refurbish the window trim for a clean factory look.

Any advice to accomplish this?

Thanks

Adams' VRT- http://www.detailersdomain.com/index...PROD&ProdID=77

Black wow- http://www.detailersdomain.com/index...ROD&ProdID=233

Either one of these will work, easy application just rub in. If you get the black wow make sure to be careful around paint areas.

Black wow says it was made for plastic trim, but the trim is metal.

Also, i have paint rubbed off in some areas. I need to repaint it without making it looked caked on.

Anyone with first hand experience?

thanks

....they make "trim paint" that resembles the look of factory painted, matte finished, black trim. I can't speak for it's resilience though.

Yea Mother's Back-To-Black is amazing on black plastic pieces like the mirrors, roof rack, and window trim.

Not sure, it's been holding up for 2 weeks so far at least... it's my first time using it.

....nope. It's a dressing (not a dye). I used it off & on for a few years and felt it works fairly well. ....but it's nothing really amazing in comparison some other products I have tried. You will need to continue to apply it like any other dressing.

A relatively new product to the scene is Black Wow. My final thoughts on it have still yet to be decided but my intial impressions were good. It appears it will outlast other products I've used and it does a great job of helping to restore the original color of the trim. ....in most cases though, I just use 303 Aerospace Protectant for my dressing/protectant needs.

ah, i actually have paint missing. i think i will try the duplicolor solution. im am just fearful of a non oem look. I'll report back. My car should be back monday. Getting rid of the MBP and going with straight gloss black from Mercedes. Figure it will look better with gold wheels.

....I think if you prepare the bits properly, it should come out looking OEM. Personally, I would grab a can or two of different brands (i.e. Duplicolor, VHT, etc.) to try out & compare on some test pieces. I was going to mention that you might consider buying new ones (to start off fresh), but it looks like the rails (which I'm assuming are the painted items your talking about) are $200 each.

Wetsand the whole piece and tape it off from the car very well. Then prime and paint. I would use a flatter color to match. You can get some paint cheap.

Forever Black is a dye solution if you want that route. If it's down to the metal (are we talking about a WRX here?), then you'd have to paint. Dye won't work.
