344whp with a dom 1.5 is a lot different than 344whp with a vf52. |

Rob - don't you have a ways to go before you tap out that turbo, power wise? What is the advantage of working the heads or changing the cams if your setup can already yield more power than your driveline can safely support? If it's part of a progressive plan, then I certainly understand building the tranny later. I wonder how much the 5spd can handle if its not being expected to survive launches and flat foot shifting?

Head work really comes down to how the car feels in the power band rather than making power. Since I LOVE the track...that is where it would make the difference...not the dyno. The cams...while great for power...are stupid expensive for our cars in comparison to cars that are much more expensive than ours...and I even get a great deal! So it really comes down to how much I want to invest vs. what I gain. Port, polish and rework on the heads is not cheap (I wasn't planning on going 1 over or anything as the gains are minimal in reference to the cost)...I can gain another double digits on the whp with cams but you are talking over a grand alone on those...and I am not racing for time. I really just wish we had a lot more e85 in Atlanta. |

Beautiful build. Just finished reading xlubens build and finally yours. You guys give me too many ideas for my '11 SS sedan. The best part is both of your wives support it! Too bad we aren't all that lucky.

I married a car girl. Our next project will actually be her Cobra kit with a 427 Cobra Jet. That will be a fun one.

I will echo what everyone else is saying about the quality of work that is being done this build. I love the interior work that JPM did and was impressed with how good the RCE Tarmacs felt on bumpy roads. Thanks for giving me a ride in Louisville, and even though traffic did not allow much speed I was pleased with the torque of your car. I hope the new engine works out for you.

Wow nicely done!! I'm really liking that carbon fiber wrap for the interior. I've actually been thinking about doing that myself once my wrx comes in. How did you get the template or how did you cut them into size?

Hi, I see that you're running the Tial QR BOV. Do you run the aluminum weld flange or the steel one and which adapter do you use? One last question, do you know recirculate outlet hose diameter for the STi? Thanks!

That said. The 704's are nice. Quote:
I actually got the Tial QR from ImportImage. It came with the STI adapter plate and that mounted the Perrin adapter plate to put it in the Perrin silicone that my FMIC has. Which FMIC or TMIC are you putting it on? Unless you plan on welding a conventional BOV flange...the STI adapter plate should work. Something new... There are a lot of things really wrong with this picture but I'll post it anyway. I just felt like messing with the rig for a little bit. When you do it in front of your own house...you get a lot of funny looks from the neighbors as they drive by. |

Rob there are actually casting problems with the 704 series, thats why I ask. I have had a cylinder blow out on #4 with a misely 350 WHP. This was a complete stock block with Weisco pistons. There is something going on with the new castings, the liner material is different or applied differently leading to these failures.
I have never seen a 701, 702, 703 series failure like this. Element tuning has seen multiplpe failures already, this is why I am nervous going with the new block I have sitting in the box. I am calling cosworth on Monday to see what they are coming across as well. ITs too many failures to be the tune, also if it was the tune I wouldnt be seeing these at different tuners. |
