Question SSR Competition Owners - Bent Wheel Poll

I'm interested in purchasing a set of 17"x7.5" SSR Comps, although, I've read a few nightmares about people bending their wheels. I wanted to see a percentage of how many people have actually bent their wheels. Please vote....

I have 18x8's and i LOVE Them. I get so many comments about them. Buy 'em and just drive with your head. dont hit stuff. The roads around here are pretty bad with construction and stuff and i haven't bent one

Have a Nice Day?

I heard of at least one incident of bent 17s, but personally, I just try to avoid potholes if I can - after all, roads here aren't exactly bad, but they aren't silky smooth either.

For completeness, you should have included 16" SSRs in there.

That's what I'd get if I was going to plunk down that much cash:

-Even less prone to bends/breaks
-Lighter

225 is a width, not a sidewall rating, and though they are forged, i have seen/heard of several cases of bending with them. One was a slight bent on an itr with 15's

The 17" SSR Comps are the ones I have my eye on. I wonder if these would hold up to Jersey City streets though, nastier than any rally course I have seen.

The semi solid forging process results from a discovery made by MIT in the 1970's. It has only recently been used in industry with excellent results: a semi solid forged metal is very dense (therefore lightweight) and 25 % stronger than regular forged metal, as can be seen from the resulting grain pattern in the figure below:
