That makes no sense. I drove manual for 12 years before getting my WRX, which was my first car with hill assist. I definitely don't need it, but I don't mind it either. In actuality, the people who complain about hill assist causing them to stall are probably inferior manual drivers because they can't adapt to it.

How hard is it to get going on a hill using the hand brake to hold the car? Are people that uncoordinated that they can't release a handle and operate two pedals at the same ****ing time.

Not sure why the handbrake is needed on a hill, never used that option either.

I usually don't. But then again I live in a city that's literally nothing but hills. 10 minutes away from the steepest street in the world.

Not to be mean but go ahead and do that. If youre not a Subaru enthusiast then trade out. This company has a long line of history with these cars and they have come a long long way. I've grown up loving these cars and owning one makes me part of the family. Love... It's what makes Subaru, a Subaru

That there is my problem with the Hill-Assist, I am quicker than it is, thus it is holding the car back. Plus I don't like that it holds me from rolling backwards when I want to either, a nanny device that should never have been invented, people should buy an automatic if they honestly think they need Hill-Assist. This is without a doubt the dumbest thing I have ever seen a car company add to an automobile, it basically teaches/enforces bad driving habits.

uhhh cant you roll back if u just put the car in neutral....Thought hill assist only engages when your in first gear.

All of the complainers sound like they do not like tech progress or adapting to change.
Do you guys complain about cruise control and ABS too?
What about 7,500 mile oil changes? All stupid and unnecessary?

Is this tread about Hyundai Genesis vs. Subaru WRX?

Yes, but you can't accelerate uphill in neutral, can you?

To do what you are suggesting, you'd have to be in neutral and rolling backwards as you are getting into first gear. You can't invoke the brake at all or else the assist engages.

Hyundai value does plummet. I was offered an honest trade value of $15k on my Veloster (from a good Subaru dealer). That's 25% lost in 18 months. It sucks, but it is what it is.

I personally would buy a brz over a gen coupe, but that's just me. Good on you for keeping the wrx. I can't say I miss my 2011, but I do miss my 2005 wagon

Chances are that's not what it's worth though. They would sell it for more.

Of course. Based on what I've seen, probably for $16-$16.5k... so 20% below invoice/sale price. I bet a lot of people wish you could get a 2012 wrx for $20k

I did bring them 1k below invoice on the Gen coupe but they could only offer me 23.5k for my 13' Base WRX...

Purchased an Accessport used on here for $450 and called it a day.
Seriously, why was this sh!+storm of a thread bumped? OP stuck with the WRX, and some guy is going to forever hate hill assist.
