Ok here's my radio JVC xr 810
here are the ends of the wires from the radio's harness here's the wire harness adapter Metra 70-7552 and then there's this tag on the radio's harness Now if I understand this, the adapter will plug into a female end which is plugged into the oem radio harness, correct? And I should connect the similar colored wires from the jvc's harness to the wires of the adapter? Now the wire with the blue tag, is that the one that goes to the car's antena amplifier? This is important b/s I listen to a lot of talk radio. And the one black wire on the adapter which is marked (for subaru only) where does that go? I notice the wires on the JVC have male and female ends, should I try to find the opposite ends at Radio Shack and crimp them on are should cut those off and connect them with solder? Thanks, I'm such a noob.

Oh, and that blue wire, if I get an amplifier later is that what use to tell it to turn on and off or is there another one. I thought I read earlier if I did that it will turn off the amplifier when I'm not listening to the radio. Thanks again

BTW, if your car has audio controls on the steering wheel (or you later add them), I can provide the missing SWC wires you can snap into that harness. See my profile for contact info (click on my username). Quote:

Most of the Subaru OEM radios do have that problem -- the HU only activates the power antenna output while you're in AM/FM mode, so it can't be used for a speaker amp. Quote:
That label is there because many Nissans don't have a factory wire on that pin (the ground is via the radio chassis). |

You'll probably have to call the amps' manufacturers, or measure it yourself.
In general, you'll only run into that limit with some amps that connect their remote turn-on input directly to a large internal relay. |

Hi everybody!
I've one question...do anybody knows the distance between pins in the "new" 8 pins conector that includes the "Aux-in" signal in radios 2007 and up? I'm talking about this one: (Pictures posted by SilvrWRX in the thread "OEM CD changer from 2007" post) I've tried to measure it and it seems to be less than the standard 2,54mm but I'm not sure, I don't have a proper tool to measure under 1mm. Thanks!! Thanks!! |

The pins are square, 0.64 mm on each side (or 0.025 inches). |

Along the same lines as some of the above posts, does anyone know what the difference is between the 08+ and the 07 aux connection on the headunits? Are they different? Just from eye-balling the pictures alone they look VERY similar, i would have to guess they are different hence the different p/n's... Just wondering if the 08+ aux can work with the 07 headunit.

For anyone else wondering, YES the 08+ aux kit from subaru DOES plug and play in the 07 headunit. The aux port itself does not sit in the little ash/coin tray thing, but it does work, and with the 08+ kit, the wire is much longer so you can run it somewhere else concealing. Just thought i would pass it along.

Quick question, sorry if this has already been answered. Is the 05 STI stock head unit the same as the 06 STI?

Anyone have a picture of the back of the 2012 Pioneer nav unit in the 2012 Impreza/WRX/STI?
I want to know if I can hook up a backup camera, since Subaru isn't offering it as an option. |

Bump for an answer to this. I too want to figure out how to convert the factory adapter from the center console into a working usb/ aux port behind the radio. I like the placement of the center console inputs.

2012 WRX Navigation HU - Bluetooth/iPhone weirdness
2012 WRX navigation HU (USA)
It's a pretty awesome unit, especially for the price. But the Bluetooth does not play perfectly with my iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0.1. When the BT connects to my phone, the phone's ringer and music volume both drop to the minimum (quietest) level. I have to use the phone's volume buttons to raise the volume to where it was before I started the car. Kind of annoying, because if I forget to do this, I can't hear text message alerts, and the music won't play through the BTA function until I raise the music volume on the phone at least one click. Is this an iPhone/BT implementation issue, or a Subaru issue? Any way to stop this behavior? Thanks, y'all. |

http://techinfo.subaru.com/proxy/637...h621sfg700.pdf there appears to be 2 different part numbers H621SFG700 & H621SFG750, whats the difference and which is the right one? http://www.buysubaruaccessories.com/...ub-w-navi.html https://www.subaruonlineparts.com/pr...oducts_id=1248 *edit* just got of the phone with my dealership is appears the H621SFG700 is the older model kit and the newest and most recent is the H621SFG750. I am thinking of getting the Caska CA3606G OEM STYLE CD MP3 DVD SATNAV GPS FOR SUBARU LEGACY 2006/ OUTBACK 2004-2006 I haven't found a suitable source, but I see the UK have them here http://www.caska.co.uk/store/index.p...&product_id=83 I confirmed my HVAC controls are separate from the main unit by opening up the GX204JE. As it has been reported the Caska unit does not come with the HVAC. However there is a ribbion cable connecting my HVAC board to the radio board. Anyone know if it will still work if the ribbon cable is disconnected? Would I also need a US/Euro Hazard switch? Since on these Caska units it appears to be on the right side. My Hazard switch is on the left on the Kenwood GX-204JE. Last edited by jabz; 01-16-2012 at 06:07 AM. |
