Considering how most people gripe about the torque dip... I'm going to lean toward people not knowing how to drive the car properly.
I'm obviously not saying it has to go to redline all the time, but most people won't or don't think they should down shift for power.

I'm sure I've said this multiple times already though
Yup to both. Even in our WRX, when in 5th, you drop to 4th for the huge power boost for really fast passing. With the BRZ, I'm betting a lot of those folks use the shift light… Personally, I adore the BRZ when it's running in the 4k-5k's-- it was the highlight of passing the break in period! Our WRX doesn't even have turbo lag-- when you shift and keep it over 32. :P I learned to shift by engine sound, not watching RPMs, so maybe that's the difference?

Something like 22000 miles on my 2013. It's kind of loud inside and a little bit rattly, but I still love driving it. Makes me want to hoon and slay tires every time.

I have about 28K miles on my 2013 now. It's prepped for STX and I would definitely purchase it again.

Exactly 2 years ago I put in my order for my FR-S. My company lease will be up in a couple years and I'll probably not lease another one. Being my company car, I feel obligated to take it on days that I don't want to drive it. That said, I'm glad I did get this one when I did. It is such a well sorted car and it has taught me a lot as a driver. It is so rewarding when you get it just right. It is also humbling. I'm happy to have scratched the itch with this car. Great experience and probably a car I'll look back on wishing that I'd kept (especially if all the interesting cars continue going away).

I'd not only buy it again, but I'd buy it and strip it out again.

Because Racecar.

I just picked up my 2016 BRZ two days ago. It's rough, noisy, cramped....but I love it!

Don't be angry that you are the only person who buys a new car and then proceeds to strip any and all comfort items out of it.

Hey! I have cup holders!

I'm not mad. I like my tin can quite a lot. And my 'interior' is actually very spacious

I bought my 2013 4 months ago, so i'd say I'm out of the honeymoon stage.
I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. It's the least powerful car I've ever bought and it's the one that puts the biggest smile on my face every day. It makes me look forward to my commute in a way my other cars just couldn't.

Just picked up a 2016 and love my commute as well. So much fun. Yeah it's down on power, but I still have my 04 wrx for that.

Sold mine little over a year ago... Probably going to get another one.

Only decision is trying to get a killer deal on a 1st gen once the new ones are out or just go for the new one.

Just go for the new one. So many nice little improvements for pretty much the same price. For what I paid on mine initially and the add-ons over the years, the 2017's plus Performance Package would've saved me a lot of money in the end. Plus I still lust for steering wheel controls.

That's most likely what I'm gonna do unless I can get an older one for insanely cheap (probably won't happen).

How insanely cheap is cheap? What kind of condition and how many miles?

New one only matters if you like the facelift and if you might track it. For strictly a DD the upgrades amount to no difference in driving performance. The performance package is nice but then again more suited for tracking than DD. I thinks it's more if you want the car now or wait for later. Other forums said performance package not available until January.

Absolutely, except if find a used one instead of buying new but I don't regret it at all.

I got a BRZ back in November last year.

I pretended like I could get in and out of it like I did with my GSR when I was still 24.

Well, I'm 42 now, and I twisted my ankle pretty bad trying to get out of it like I used to get out of my GSR and had to relearn how to get out of a 2 door sports car as a not young man.

I don't regret the pain and would do it all over again. I'd also be 24 again, if I could.
