Default "Official" Ebay 16g....? CXRacing now has turbos?

Well, perusing ebay bored at almost midnight, I stumble across this....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-07...spagenameZWDVW

A FMIC / 16G turbo kit from CXRacing. After searching on NASIOC for CXRacing a few hits came up on intercoolers for them but nothing turbo wise. So I guess they have gotten into the turbo business too?

I googled them and came upon their website. http://www.cxracing.com/

On there it doesn't list the subaru 16g specifically but they do have a 16g turbo listed for a whole $360 linked below

http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant...gory_Code=TOCH

So just curious I guess if this is the new "Ebay Brand" of 16g's for the wrx / sti. Don't know if this will replace the Momentum turbo of past years as the "discount" brand turbo. I know there were very mixed results with Momentum's turbos and I'm just wondering how these things will preform.

Thoughts I guess.....? I am sure many "this is just ebay junk" replies will spring up so hopefully there are more useful posts than that.

I'm just pretty curious to hear the results from the first person to buy this turbo or turbo / fmic combo

Could it be great results and good/decent quality turbo???

Could it be boost creep and shaft play???

Could it be catastrophic failure!?!?

If it is a TD-05 16g, then that's an knockoff for sure according to the pics they listed. That kinda look like 18g, but fairly small if you compare to the REAL 18G. The real 16g should also have the flat spot for the serial number stamped on, NOT the top. Like kalescustom said "1k for FMIC and a 16g turbo are absolutely POS".

They have those 16g's on Ebay for $499. They are chinese rip offs of the MHI 16g. You can research on the DSM forums if you want more detail. Some there have tried the same turbo on their DSM's. I think one guy has his for over 20k now and others were short lived so its basically hit and miss. They are capable of the same power but the reliablity is no where near a real MHI.

There has been tons of people out there as my self have tried chinese turbos aka ebay turbos. There are also tons of people still running these turbos today, specially in the dsm and honda world. The most common problems are oil leaking from the seals after some time passes by and this is fixed by putting a reducer on the oil feed line.

honestly i wouldn't put one on my subaru, i had one on my honda but thats a honda lol who gave a **** just find a hatch and buy a ls motor for like 500 bucks and ebay turbo kit for like 1000 bucks with intercooler and then neptune for tuning then you got your self a beast. lol

Agreed.

As much of a cliche as it sounds, you do get what you've paid for in this case.

i may be wrong but i'm pretty sure a FMIC is overkill for a 16g turbo.

If I upgrade from the 39, I'd seriously consider this kit.

By then there should be some user reviews

+1234 I bought a brand new turbo inlet hose from a random company off ebay and a year later it completely fell apart. So now I paid more to get the proper brand (perrin). You definitely get what you pay for, I won't ever buy anything "ebay" brand again.

not everything from ebay is crap FMIC, TMIC and TBE's from ebay are a great deal . Turbos are much more complex, but someone needs to test them and review them.

+1 things that are not complex like intercoolers and exhausts are easy cause they are hard to F-up. However I wouldnt trust the more complex things. Its almost like buying a ebay brand shortblock. haha.

It also says "Big 16g" so I'm wondering if it is a copy of the EVOIII

They claim it flows 580 cfm which is more than the FP EVOIII 16g:

DESCRIPTION: 02-06 subaru wrx td05 big 16g turbo charger (direct bolt on for 02-06 wrx)

New TD05H big 16G turbo.

TURBO SPEC:

SYSTEM : JOURNAL BEARING

COMPRESSOR :

A/R 49

WHEEL DIAMETER 48.3 / 68mm MM

ACTUATOR 0.8 BAR

TURBINE:

WHEEL DIAMETER 49.2 /56MM

This internally waste gate turbo supports 350 hp and delivers 580 CFM.

It has a big 16G compressor wheel, Td05H turbine wheel, and a specially designed turbine housing. It is ported and has a bigger waste gate. It fits 02-06 subaru wrx without any modification. This is a good upgrade for stock or mild tuned wrx's. average gain is around 70hp on stock boost and stock injector.
